Supposedly he witnissed someone beating it and ran over to it and put his arms around it. He collapsed a short time later...

Sure: Nietsche's Grandmother left him a horse in her will... sadly, her will didn't give him the power to exercise the horse. Ultimately, a Teutonic gentleman came along and exercised the horse sufficiently that there was a triumph of the will.
