I just got naturalized (US) and I have to travel ASAP to Canada. It takes too long to apply for a passport the normal way. Can I apply for one in the US consulate in Canada with my naturalization certificate?

To answer your question, yes, you may apply in Canada.

ALL new-style US passports are manufactured in the USA. It might be possible to get a temporary passport from a US consular office (these are routinely issued in emergencies and to enable travelers who've lost their passports to return to the USA).

But emergency service is also available from a Passport Agency in the USA, and perhaps more quickly.

Anyway: passports are not required for travel to Canada. You can use your naturalization certificate and your US driving license. It's only if you're leaving the Western Hemisphere that you need a US passport. And how did you plan to get to Canada, unless it was to walk across the border in a place like Derby Line, VT, hoping nobody would notice? (But, hey, there is CCTV all over the place, and they ARE watching!)

Starting in 2008 passports are scheduled to be required for ALL travel across the Canadian and Mexican borders.

your driver license and the certificate of naturalization is more then sufficient for your return home at the border if any question ICE will do quarry on you and will come up with us citizenship 10 second delay i believe at any us consular office you may renew your passport but not first time issuance as the passport will be send by diplomatic curries to DEPT of State /passport office back in the USA and then returned back to the consulate office

Even if you could apply, you wouldn't get one for weeks. And as of January 1, every American has to have a passport to get back into the U.S. from Canada, Mexico and other countries.

Actually if you have an "American" drivers licence or ID, that is all you need to go to Canada. Actually since we are the top dogs, you can go to Mexico, and Canada with just your ID. You also are gonna need your Social Security Number, they want two forms of ID, and since your Birth Certificate says Canada, they might bust your balls, so just take the Social and your ID and you should be fine. Message me letting me know if it worked out or not. Might have changed but you can call your local ID place, and they will know or can direct you to someone who does.
