It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you go on a liquid diet you'll lose weight. But you can't possibly think you'll keep it off. You can't be on it forever! And you don't drop pounds "like nothing"...you're cranky and more likely to go off it & binge. It's not worth it.

I'm not sure if this technically qualifies as a liquid diet but I've been doing the Cambridge Diet and it's a nutritional supplement taken in the form of a shake, soup or oats that can be use for baking. It produces phenomenal results and is very low calorie but provides the body with 100% of it's daily nutrition and is FDA approved. I know there are liquid diets out there that are not healthy so you have to be careful. My photo of my results on Cambridge are the first on the Before and After section of the website below. Good luck if you choose a liquid diet, just research it well before you begin and try to find something that encourages behavior modification so you don't gain back the weight!

A liquid diet, or fast, is a way of cleansing the body of toxins... If you eat meat, you should know that some of that rots in your colon for months before being properly digested or passed. Even if you don't, most people consume preservative chemicals and "extras" in their food. Even household cleaning products can toxify your system when absorbed through the skin.
There are several types of fasts. Water fasts (nothing but water for however many days the faster chooses), Juice fasts (same but with juice), Monotrophic fasts (you eat only one kind of food a day, like grapes or carrots), the list goes on...
Some people will fast for a month, others one day. It can be very healthy for you. It can also help with rapid weight loss, but it is mostly water weight. The longest I have ever fasted was 6 days. I felt horrid the first day, wanted to eat everything in sight. The second day I felt great and I kept feeling better until the sixth day. I got dizzy a lot on day 6, so I ended up eating dinner. I still felt good though, and continued to feel good for about two weeks... It was energizing, getting rid of all the extra "crap" (LOL) I carried around in my intestines... I also lost about 15 pounds, but after eating again, I did regain 10 of it.

Some people make protien shakes with soy or whey protien, There are many pre-mixed shakes that you can make with water or soy milk. You can lose weight safely using these as a meal replacement. Just keep your calories around 1500/day and make sure that you walk the dog, jog or ride your bike every day.
