Do you have the credentials? Get in the face of anyone who has influence in show-business no matter how many times you are rejected. If you are offered anything, take it. Even if it's being a gopher. Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part and taking a crappy job may be the only way in.

Those are great goals, and New York is a good place to make it happen.

In order to be on David Letterman, you already have to be famous; writers for SNL started small, writing their own material as comedians or writing for other comedians.

Take some writing classes. Submit jokes, ideas, etc. to comedians you know.

If you want to be an actor, take acting classes. Research the best classes; there's a lot of charlatans out there.

You might also want to be an intern (i.e. unpaid volunteer) with theatres or TV production companies.

There are plenty of open mike comedy nights in NYC, start doing those. Write material for other comedians that you meet at this events. Write a comedy blog.

Get a job at a restaurant....the last part wont help with your comedy, but will keep you from starving while you try and break into the comedy biz.

Well NY is the place for opportunities, but let me tell you is not as easy at it seems from far. Millions of people want the same job and have the same talents. Give it a shot and don't stop dreaming, believe in your yourself and come to the big Apple to see it for yourself.

Try writing scripts and submitting them for TV. Also, go to a college known for media, such as NYU and work hard to get an internship at one of the big media outlets.

if it's comedy you want to do, join a comedy group when you get here. you need to get "out there" with your material before anyone will look at you.
if you just want to work on productions, try getting in at MTV. a lot of production people either got their start there, or have worked there in some capacity or another.

You might try starting as an intern. Its very hard to just get a job; its a long latter to climb.

GOOD LUCK
