my dog loves eating body lotion...seriously. he tries to lick it off my skin and i have to hide tubs from him. i just wondered if anyone else's dog does weird stuff like this?

my dog does the same thing, my husband has real dry skin and when he puts lotion the dog wants to lick it off. maybe our dogs are related...lol

Oh! Oh! I thought my retarded Australian Shepard was the only dog in the world that did that! It's so nice to know she's not the only goofy dog. I have tube like containers that I squeeze out when I want some, okay? So when I flip the lip open she starts salivating and licking her chops. She'll run up to me and do her damnedest to start licking me. And if it's just a phase like one of the other answer's say, then she's been in this phase for 2 years!! Ha! Anyway, animals are so silly aren't they?

Ok I know it's gross and may turn people off of lotion, but it is the ingredents in the lotion that you dog loves to eat! The main ingredent(listed as natural ingeredent) is cow placentas or after birth. Placentas are very good at adding moister and elasticicy to your skin! If you go out to the farm at calving season you'll see all the dogs going for the placentas...

Yes my dog likes weird stuff. He doesn't really freak out about hand lotion but he LOVES triple anit-biotic ointment. He ate nearly a whole tub and after I consulted a vet who said he would be fine I have tried to keep it out of his reach but he always manages to get it off of the shelf.

Yes...it drives me crazy. If I put lotion on my legs (especially the Body Shop strawberry kind) my dog follows me around and tries to lick my legs.

Yes, I've had a lot of dogs they love vaseline or any lotion you put on. I use to open the vaseline and they jump up to get a taste. I have 120 lb yellow lab, she loves all lotion I guess because it smells clean.

I had a dog that insisted that I put on one specific scent. I have several lotions and if I put on the wrong one before bed, she would jump around on the bed and sniff my night stand until I put the right one on. Then she would lay down on her pillow and go to sleep. It was not bed time till mom put on the rose one!!

Yes dogs will do this but yuo should not let them as the lotion may contain ingredients which are toxic to dogs

my dog is a 3 year old black lab and does it all the time! it's so annoying, as soon as i put it on he'll be in a diffrent room and come leaping on the couch trying to lick my legs! long answer so it's yes

not quite the same, but my dog loves to try to lick all the beads of water off my feet and legs when I get out of the shower... then he tries to lick the bathtub dry!!
