Does anyone have any insight as to this? In short, it is a "church" that basically a chuch that preaches only liberalism. The acceptance of all religions. Pagans can worship next to Christians who can worship next to wiccans who can worship next to athiests or whatever. They claim to have Judeo-Christian roots, but really shy away from preaching anything Christian. As a matter of fact, when I sat in on a "service" they seems to bash the concepts within Christianity.
My ex-wife started taking my kids to this Church and I severely have my doubts whether this is a good thing for an 11 and 7 year old to be exposed to. If they were adults, with minds of their own, fine. But I do not think I want them exposed to the teachings of wiccanism or the thinking that things like that are OK (other than the fact that everyone has the right as adults to worship whatever they choose)...

I am not condemning wiccanism as "evil". However I am stating that contradictory relious teachings within a supposed church is probably not a good thing to expose an 11 and 7 year old to. This only adds confusion to a child.
Wiccans can do as they choose, and I am sure the majority of them are 'good' people. My question is pertaining the the supposed validity of this particular church sect and the appropriateness for children.

Cult.
Christian churches generally are Trinitarian (believing in the Trinity) and will follow the Apostles and Nicene Creeds. And they have a doctrine--common beliefs, based in Scripture. Some Christian churches vary on certain points, but usually the "big stuff" they share.
You know that old saying (and country song) you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. This is very true when it comes to choosing a church. To worship with everyone under the sun can have no benefit because there is no common confession of faith - you don' t share anything with those members but pew space.
I think your instincts are right, such an eclectic collection of beliefs will only serve to confuse them. They simply do not have the maturity or life experience to weed out the bad, and absorb the good.

Cult - A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader. Let's take apart what you suggest one step at a time. You have sighted the denotation (definition) of a cult. Unitarian Universalism is probably the worst fit for a cult. Our fourth and fifth principles in particular don't fit with the definition of a cult. >> * A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; * The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; >> Besides not being guided by a charismatic leader, the vast majority of our people lead very conventional lives. The only possible exception to this might be that our members as a whole tend to have achieved a higher level of education than members of other denominations. Cults are of the tendency to single mindedness, that could never be said about a UU congregation. It's oft been said that if there are 4 UUs in a room, there will be 5 opinions on any given subject. If you ask me, and you did ;-) , the people who call us a cult are ignorant of who we are and possibly what a cult is. I certainly hope that they are not just name calling people they haven't even taken the opportunity to know. That would be a very hateful and spiteful thing to do. I think the churches most like cults are the independent Christian churches lead by a charismatic preacher.

What is "good" to you? Are all "Christians" good? Unitarian Universalists don't have a creed; they have only 7 principles and a wide variety of sources. One principle is "a search for truth and meaning" which could lead a person to Wiccan. Most Wiccans, however are not Unitarian Universalists and most Unitarian Universalists are not Wiccan. It can be very enlightening to meet a real Wiccan and find out what they believe and why. The U.S. is a diverse country and you can meet a wide diversity in Unitarian Universalist churches.

One might say the Boy Scouts are Cults. Same for RomCat. The word "cult" lacks a clear or consistent definition.
What is clear to me the major sin in western religion is blasphemy which is speaking against God such as something sacred. One might consider any American Catholic not for right to life is violating what the Pope says is sacred. (I am not Catholic). As a child I was taught in Southern Baptist that one must love God as the primary goal to being a Christian. Yet I know most Christians go to Church otherwise they will go to Hell. In other words, they go to church for themselves not for love of God.
So we have lots of cult members in America!
About the Unitarian Universalism, I like their stated ideas although I have been to their services. But after reading the articles, I just might do so.
In your own thoughts, I hope you will consider it is less important what others think than what you think. And it is very important what God thinks. The rest of world is insignificant in my view. Trust yourself!

Why? What convinced you that this was still the right answer, other than confirmation bias?

I had to look up the definition of the word "cult". So, yes it is a religious sect, but then so is everything else. If by cult you mean "our" modern interpretation i.e. something like Jonestown, then no. It is COMICAL and RIDICULOUS to think of the wonderful people I attend church with as being in a cult.

Untarianism is an extra biblical Cult of LIES, propagating false teaching, led bt satan... that downgrades the LORD Jesus Christ, our Chistian Messiah, Saviour & God, to a CREATED creature. This is exactly the lie satan has alwsys wanted every man, woman to believe since Genesis 1.3
Gospel of John 1 - 3 clearly shows Christ the Word, the I AM, was ALWAYS God - HE was with God at the beginning and He IS God.

well by imposing your beliefs on your children you are going to accomplish one of two things
either make them follow your religion as blindly as you are and hate all other religions claiming that they are "wrong" or "evil" and in the process close their mind in many different thought processes and views to the point where they will think they are the only ones right and that anyone else is wrong by default
OR you will make them hate the religion you wish them to be part of and they will either not believe at all in a higher power or just hate the one you are pushing him towards
i think the UU is at least a great starting point because from what i know its a collection of every kind of person that wishes to be there and they are all open minded enough to realize that they all want the betterment of man kind to help and be helped they can truly put aside their differences and help each other without a second thought
i am not saying this to push anyone towards or away from any religion all i am saying is at least your kids will get to see people for what they are rather than their religion
UU makes it so that people focused on bettering each other rather than hating people who think differently

This disgusts me. People who think christianity is the only good way and everybody who is in a different religion is wrong. It's called choice, and your god preaches that every human has free will yet people try to control others using the bible as a 'reason'. Unitarian Universalism preaches to be open to EVERYBODY, to never hate another because of their religion or sexuality. They preach to literally love everybody and to never preach against another human because everybody has the birthright to choose who and what they are. Just because they don't believe in everything christianity believes doesn't mean they're wrong. They preach more love than anybody can imagine, they preach acceptance of every single person and they preach diversity and coexistance. They preach that just because your friend comes out of the closet then you shouldn't stop loving them, unlike christianity. Your children are blessed to go to this church to be taught to coexist and accept everybody's diverse choice.
