I had the same problem,my friend. What you need to do is close the I-tunes window just after you start the download for version 7. Hope this helps.

I've got a Creative Lab MVO player and a Yahoo account for MP3, so I don't know too much about iTunes but here's the result of a couple minutes surfing some how-to sites.
http://www.macfixit.com/
This lists a lot of problems with iTunes 7 and how to fix it. Try the bulleted list halfway 1/3 down where it reads "Files to be deleted are located in ~/Library/Preferences".
If that doesn't work, try downloading Quicktime 7.1.3. I had this trouble with my software till I downloaded it. You can get the download free at cNet with no limit time, and it should be digitally signed so no worries about that:

Hope this helps!

I had a similar problem and it was too do with Quicktime.I tried to delete all the Quicktime components, even in the Registry, I then tried to reinstall but it still didnt work.
I then found a programme called Quicktime Alternative.
I downloaded it and I havent had any trouble since. It works perfectly and i dont have use real Quicktime at all.
Do a google search for QUICKTIMEALTERNATIVE.
