Aboriginies. They arrived 40,000-50,000 years ago when Australia was connected to New Guinea. The "current" Australians arrived when the British built a prison colony at Botany Bay in the 1780s.

I think Australia is as racist as most other countries. I do see a lot of people being racist though. Like Australians (not Aboriginal Australians, I mean) saying to other people 'get back to your own country'. Which is pretty hypocritical of them. And also the thing with the boat people, how many people are against refugees coming by boats. Not sure if that's racism exactly, though. There is also the educational gap between white Australians and Aboriginal Australians. And the difference in employment rates and things. I'm Australian, and not racist though. And a lot of my friends are Australian and aren't racist either. But yeah, some people are, just like other countries.

The native Australians are called Aboriginies. They have many modern day descendants, and so could also be called 'current' Australians. Other Australians are the descendants of European (mostly British) immigrants who came in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries from Europe, and there are more recent immigrants from East Asia, such as Chinese, Filipino, Indonesian, Vietnamese, ect.

The indigenous peoples of Australia are reported to have come from the archipelagos of the Pacific, as well as Southeast Asia prior to the geographic changes from Continental Drift. Although there were many British penal colonies established in Australia, some of them were initially founded as free settlements, only to later accept convicts. South Australia was established and maintained without accepting European convicts. It should also be mentioned many of the settlements in the Americas were initially British penal colonies.
