If Dr. Atkins was so smart, then why did he die of heart failure?
Seriously, Atkins has only short term results. Yes, it works, but as soon as you eat something that is not on the diet, you gain your weight back. And Atkins' chocolate will make your farts smell really, really bad.
I say, eat what you want, get fat and enjoy it.

Yes I have done the Atkins diet, my best friend has also done the atkins diet. I have lost 27lbs in 6 weeks and my friend lost a whopping 73 lbs in 4months.
However be real careful with the carbs once you come off the diet you can gain the weight back faster than you've lost it.
You change your eating habit forever to maintain the weight loss. Don't stay on the diet too long it can cause irreversible damage to your organs (liver, kidney especially)

I know someone that was on it and successfully lost 65 pounds. She did not have an increase in cholesterol or anything. In actuality, her blood pressure and everything improved. Grant it, she did lose a lot of pounds which I am sure contributed to the improvement. But she did lose the weight on an average of 6 pounds per week for the first 3 weeks.
However, often if you have less weight to lose, or are female, the loss is much less. You might only lose 3 pounds per week instead.

the diet works, I tried it however, i found that i lost 15 lbs of water and muscle. It didn't actually get rid of fat. That was the bad thing about it. I would recommened it as a way to jump start your weight loss process, but I wouldn't reecommend using it as a this is the only way process..... I'll tell you this, You're better off being 150 lbs, solid, muscular and wearing a size 5-6 then being 138 lbs, flabby, soft and a size 9. See the difference. Try not to put so much emphasizes on the scale. Go by your clothes and fat content.
Good luck

my moms did it n lost like 17 pounds in the first two weeks, thats the induction phase. After that her weight loss was slower but 7 lbs a week aint bad. She went off of it for a reason or other but is about to go back on here's a website if you need to see about the foods and moreon induction. Word to the wise the first three days are the hardest because in a way you are detoxifying your body - good luck -

I know lots of people who lost large amounts of weight fast. My mother in law went on it and lost about 20 pounds in 3 weeks. However, the minute she went off the diet she literally gained it all back. So yeah it definitely works but it's hard to stick to, which you must do if you want to keep it off.

I knew a few people that's been on it..and they lost 25lbs in like a month..the only bad thing about is that..the faster u lose the weight..the faster you'll gain it back..you have to gradually get back on the carbs..cuz if u cheat or do the wrong thing at least one day, u won't lose any weight for that week, and you'll gain that weight back in a heartbeat...good luck!

I'm not familiar with this diet, but have heard that it's not a very safe diet, just like any diet, you have to be careful. If you feel you need to be on a diet, speak to a physician first or consult a dietitian. Too many people end up sick if they don't use their responsiability.

I know at least five people who have been on it once or many times. Only one person lost weight and kept it off. The person who lost weight, really watched his calorie intake too.
If you want to lose weight, take in less calories and burn off more.
It's really simple; no magic required.
