It's like a protectant for your hair when straightening and blow drying, and it's also good for shine ( not a greasy shine), and keeping your hair from damage.

Hair Serum is used to add shine to your hair. Try Biosilk. It's expensive but I love what it does to my very curly hair.

Hair serums are used to soften hair, combat frizziness and add shine. Some also protect hair from heat styling. They are generally silicone based, and are clear liquids that have a viscosity anywhere from similar to water to almost like molasses.
