at least six priests, 14 pastors and thousands of Christians have been murdered in the name of Islam in just the last five years. This even includes 382 who were slain by Muslims in or on the grounds of a church in countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Turkey and Bangladesh.

By contrast, we can't find a single incident since 9/11 when a mosque leader or ordinary Muslim was murdered in the name of Catholicism.

So, please excuse us for not getting worked up over someone's hurt feelings. Islam will become a Religion of Peace when Muslims decide to make it so. Stop the killing. Stop the self-indulgent whining and excuse. Earn our respect by stepping up and taking responsibility.

It is time for the world to take stock of this problem.
Do you agree?

Eireblood, you're right on track. When a cartoon or one person's words leads to violent hysteria, we learn the truth about Islam; a religion that denounces free speech and expression. Its often used to suppress women entirely, starting with the surgical removal of the clitoris at age 5.
And most importantly, it is against anything that threatens this control.
How will their power be challenged in the information age? The internet is the true enemy of radical Islam? If information can't be controlled, the population can't be isolated and subdued.

However, if you were to go back in history, you would find many hundreds of examples of Muslims being killed in the name of Christianity in general, and because of the dominance of the Roman Catholic church at the time in question, I suppose in the name of Catholicism. This has led to a historical distrust of Christianity by many Muslim nations.

It is also worth pointing out that some of the language employed by the neo-Conservative right in the US has given the impression - perhaps incorrectly - that the so-called "war on terror" is a war on Islam.

Finally, you are putting all Muslims together; only a small minority of Muslims believe in the killings that have taken place before and since 9/11. It may have escaped your notice that the senior Sunni cleric in Iraq has repeatedly called for the violence to end.

Muslim leaders across the world condemned 9/11 and other acts; and even today Muslim leaders have vigorously criticised a Muslim extremist in the UK who tried to justify the 7/7 bombings in London.

Islam IS a peaceful religion, but, as for example with Christianity in Northern Ireland during the 1970's and 1980's, it has become hijacked by people who use it for other, less honourable aims.

As an American yes I agree but you must understand that it is not ALL people of Islam that are killing in the name of their religion. You can not blame the Shiites for what the Sonni's are doing. No more than you can blame the Jews for what the Islams are doing. ( I hope I am making since here) What I am saying is that they are as different as Baptist and Catholic.
Now I am not going to lie in 2003 my hubby had to fly from Michigan to Kentucky and there was a middle eastern family trying to get on the plain with a stroller and no baby and that scared the heck out of me. BUT that is profiling. It is WRONG to say "that black man is selling drugs" Just because he is black. ( I know of plenty of white guys that sell drugs too ~ I digress~)
Not all Islamics need to "step up and take responsibility" because they are not ALL at fault. Only the radical groups like Hezbollah and the Taliban and the Sonni's.
Generalizing and stereotyping is a bad thing and it will always be bad it will NEVER be good. So just don't do it.
And try to remember that when you say these things that you need to say RADICAL Islam!

Most people agree with you, myself included. Too many Muslims are sick in the head IMO - taking innocent lives in the MANNER they do is disgusting. These terror videos are absolutely vile and I would be ashamed to be a Muslim if I was one. Very very ashamed. If that is what so many people who believe what I believed then I would question the religion.

Yes, I agree.

However, the Muslim complaints about what the Pope quoted are not worthy of rebuttal.

The Pope was attempting to appease them. They took what he said out of context and convoluted it to sound like a diatribe against Islam.

We shouldn't respond to their idiotic babbling. That's what they want.

How about *you* stop encouraging religious fighting? Its people like you that are a major part of the problem. The wars around the world use religion as an excuse. They're not about religion, they're about money, power and oil. People like you are just fuelling the fire instead of actually standing back and looking at the problem without bias.

i agree that the islamic radicals are wrong for crossing certain lines when it comes to promoting and/or defending their religion. but keep in mind the Crusades when you say that the christians aren't killing and pushing their agendas.
