He is male, 3 years old and neutered. If it will create problems, I'll just have to get a new cat.

****LET ME ADD THAT THE REASON WHY HE IS OUTDOORS IS BECAUSE I MOVED BACK WITH MY MOM TEMPORARILY AND SHE IS ALLERGIC TO CATS. THE CAT IS STAYING WITH A FRIEND WHO HAS A PET DOOR SO THE CAT IS MOSTLY OUTSIDE. I JUST FOUND A NEW APT, AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HIM BACK, BUT IF HE WOULD GET MAD AT HAVING TO STAY INDOORS, I WILL LET MY FRIEND HAVE HIM. HE FEEDS HIM AND ALLOWS HIM TO COME IN AND OUT AS HE PLEASES. SHEESHE!

Chances are that furball has picked up some bad habits. Since you'll be getting rid of him soon, may I suggest some weights tied to his rear as he's taking his last breaths hanging from the tree in your back yard? Not too heavy though, so as to prolong the event, know what I mean?

First of all, your question just sounds heartless. "If it will create problems, I'll just have to get a new cat", another homeless pet because of the ignorance of its owner. A cat cannot 'turn outdoor' without the owner allowing it to do so, now you realise its a bad idea (which any responsible cat owner could have told you before you let him loose) if he's 'bad' you'll toss him to the side. Nice. A pet is a member of the family and should not be treated like a pair of old shoes, just trade it in for a new pair... If you do have to rehome your cat, do your next cat a favor, and don't adopt it.

I see no reason he would destroy an apartment, he'll likely try and find ways to sneak out, now that he's used to being outdoors.

That just happened to us. Our nieghbor has been taking our cat. Thinks it's theirs. I have her sister as well and have had them since they were babies. So now she's inside and has been for 5 months. When she gets bored she does things sometimes like attack the toilet paper roll and tear it up while playing with it. So I just put it up high. Problem solved. I bought her some toys for in the house so she has stimulation. They get bored like anyone would being locked in. So you just provide stimulation for them. It doesn't make sense to just get rid of an animal that you chose because you can't make up your mind. It's not fair to the animal. Neutered male cats are usually HUGE on loving you and they sleep a lot. Good luck to you. Remember, buy him some kitty toys, things he can chase and attack. Throw a paper bag on the floor, you can't believe how entertaining that is to them. Try it. It's funny to watch. The really good news, he'll use the litter box and he won't spray since he's neutered. I have two nuetered males. The new covered cat litter boxes are great. No mess.

Oh My God! "If it will create problems, I'll just have to get a new cat".

Animals are not disposable you wasteful piece of sh*t! That is just ridiculous. So okay you got a cat kept it indoors... then decided to let it out... now you want a strictly indoor animal and if the cat gets upset you want to get rid of it for something that YOU brought upon your self? You are quite the piece of work you selfish inconsiderate b*tch. You should not be allowed to have the cat you do have or any others. PATHETIC!

Your username totally fits you.

I totally agree with Nikki T.

What I would do is try to change your cat back slowly. Start keeping it indoors more & more. Don't keep him inside too much at first or he could get very mad and do bad things inside your apt. Hope this helps.

I find it truly sad that if you can't fix the problem you'll get rid of him! between 80-90% of cats who end up in shelter's get put to sleep!! Just becaouse you find him a different home doesn't mean he wont end up in a shetler. I wish people would stop seeing pets as disposiable! Pets are for life! If you make the comitment to owning a pet you should know it's yours for keeps!

As for destroying your apartment, he'll only be destructive if he's bored!! So lots of toys and catnip!

I've had several indoor/outdoor cats and have never had a problem with leaving them indoors.

Just try it and see how it works. He may like being inside better especially with the cooler weather coming. Try getting him some toys to keep his attention and get a scratching post. Good Luck.

i like bunburys idea but seems too personal(having to hang the cat yourself).
try rubbing catnip all over an opened electrical outlet that way you could leave your apt. and not witness the death
