I know that it's a condition that deteriorates the eyesight but I would like more information.
Do you know of anyone that has had surgery to remove cataracts, how was their eyesight after the operation.

Thankyou.

A cataract is the clouding of the crystaline lens. The result is much like smearing grease over the lens of a camera and impairs normal vision. Most cataracts are caused by a change in the chemical composition of the lens. In a small percentage of cases, the chemical changes are caused by a hereditary enzyme defect, trauma to the eye., diabetes, or use of certain drugs, such as the steroid prednisone. Other known causes are exposure to ultra violet light over a long period of time. (years) That's why it's always a good idea to wear sunglasses, not only to look cool but also to preserve eye sight!

Cataract is the condition that affects ur eyes. the lens in the eye is like the lens of the camera, it helps to take the picture of the object at the retina and the image is transfered back to the eyes via the optic nerve.
the lens is clear, whenever there are opacities on the lens there is problem in focussing as the image wont be formed clearly on the retina.
so cataract is whitish deposition on the lens.
it can be because of old age, as a side effect of medicines or also because of Diabetes.
it is treatable and there are no major complications after the surgery. the surgery lasts for 20-30 mins and they replace the old lens with a new one, and the eyesight will return back to normal pretty soon.
the only precaution is not to go in bright places for a couple of days and after that u can return back to ur daily activities.
hope this information helps u.

A cataract is a painless clouding of the lens of the eye. Cataracts generally develop over a long period of time, gradually worsening the eyesight.

Cataracts are common in older people. About a third of people over 65 have cataracts in one or both eyes. They can usually be treated with surgery, but not all people need to have them removed, provided that they don't significantly reduce vision.

My mother had an operation to remove cataract, nothing to worry about, her sight is much clearer now. You will be ok after the operation and able to get on with normal activities just after 24 hours (that doesn't include running or jumping of course) Lol! The operation is a simple procedure under local anaesthetic or just an injection around the eye to numb the area, not painful at all. You can also get more information on your search engine, just type; medical dictionary or medical advice.

Good Luck!

I can give you just some tips but I suggest to give a look to the method that i posted above...for example you can take more food that contains vitamin A such as carrots may help to naturally improve your eye sight. We can also always do exercises. There are exercises such as rolling your eyeball to form an invisible square that are always recommended by the doctors to improve one's eyesight. I don't know about quickly as there is no fast way to reach one's goal.
Vegetarians can help to improve one's eye sight. I believe it because I am a vegetarian and my eye short-sightedness power remains the same without any increase after about 2 years. The doctor was shocked because teenagers at my years will usually have a most increase since we are always watching TV, playing computers and also reading. I do not know whether it is totally true or not but it does affect a bit on the result.

Anyway i suggest to check the link that i posted :) It worked for me
Hope it helps.

I guess you have plenty of information on what a cataract is, and how easy it is to have one or both removed. I would ask your medical practitioner however whether you should be tested for diabetes: I had an eye test about two years ago and was told that I had the beginnings of a cataract and should get tested for diabetes, especially as there is a history of it in my mum's side of the family. If you have a family history of diabetes, I would certainly look to have a blood and/or urine test for diabetes (very simple and painless).

A cataract is acondition of the eye whereby the lens becomes opaque. This is a result of age and is caused over a long period of time from exposure to bright light such as sunlight.
Today, the operation required to correct this problem is as simple as a trip to the dentist. The old lens is removed and replaced with an artificial one. No general anesthetic, no stiches.
