She tested positive with this last week. Even though she didn't seem to be in any pain, she has lost weight and just not herself. Then started coughing constantly and difficult breathing. We started the treatments (chemo) sp? which was a 4 dose shot and meds. She needs to have a shot weekly for 6 weeks. Her coughing almost stopped and her breathing is much better. Has any one had this treatment done for their dog and how long did they live? She is eating better but has thrown up a few times and has frequent urination. I assume this is from the meds.

I had Newfie about 7 years ago that had lymphoma and had chemo. It was rough. I am sure they have made advances in the treatment since then, but it was hard, there were a lot of bad days and the outcome is usually the same. Frequently they get steroids right off the bat and that is really what helps them feel better. I cannot say the chemo bought any more time, but I might do it again in the same situation and every case is different.
Usually, the decline in the end is quite fast. Then you will know the time has come. I know of a few dogs that lived another year+ after the chemo, so you never know!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best of luck!! And don't do too much reading online!!! Some of the stats are not good and are kind of depressing! It is better to take it day by day!!

You may read about my dog Sophie on the Dhaxem website, by clicking on "Examples of results" and then on "Sophie's Story".

I wish your dog all the best. But I do not know a dog for whom the chemo would have done any good.

properly, i individually have faith that there as no 'sturdy' determination the choose would have made. If he ordered chemo, like he did, he'd be 'infringing on their rights', yet while he had no longer ordered chemo, he'd be 'condoning toddler overlook interior the guise of religion'. no rely how he desperate, it wasn't going to be a 'sturdy' or huge-unfold determination, it grew to become into purely attempting to verify what grew to become into the lesser of two evils. And, final yet no longer least, the choose did say the boy did no longer could get chemo if the docs desperate it grew to become into unlikely to paintings... the only chemo scientific care reduced in size the tumor, the tumor grew decrease back to its unique length on an identical time as on the 'option' techniques, and the chief of the mum and dad' faith even mentioned that at circumstances, present day drugs is positive and this grew to become into one case - so the place's the non secular factor while their chief clarified that there grew to become into no non secular reason to no longer have chemo? whether, there is yet another difficulty: counseled consent or counseled refusal. the youngster has a studying incapacity, is at a psychological age of 8, believes he's no longer ill, and believes the chemo will kill him. besides, the boys' mum and dad have faith that regardless of the docs' warnings that he has a ninety 5% probability of loss of life untreated, he remains no longer in any scientific danger. So, for sure no one is able to bobbing up an *counseled* (ie, information the negative aspects and advantages of distinctive classes of action) determination the two way. At this factor, the government regularly steps in, in spite of the indisputable fact that that's often to difficulty injunctions permitting hospitals to handle babies whose mum and dad or guardians can not be placed or contacted, or if the parent/father or mom is subconscious or something. And, final yet no longer least, what if it grew to become into the mum and dad' faith to no longer provide their diabetic toddler insulin injections? Or, and this grew to become into an actual case, what if it grew to become into their faith to easily pray over their daughter on an identical time as she slowly died from an ear an infection? for sure, there's a line the place the mum and dad' rights to 'practice' their faith end and toddler abuse or overlook initiate, and the choose had do make some determination the place this line grew to become into - no longer an ordinary determination any way you examine out it, yet i think of he did the superb he would desire to.

I love dogs but do not believe in prolonging agony. Unless you're willing to keep shelling out vet bills, put her down( I know easier said than done) Besides a Rottie on meds is too unpredictable. Think about it.
