My fiance and I are in love and we tell each other all the time and kiss, hug, and hold hands when it is just me and her. But when we are in public she sometimes ignore me when I say I love her and she doesn't want to hold my hand, kiss me, or show any other affection. What is the problem.

Some people are uncomfortable with public displays of affection. I'm sure that if you discuss this with her, she would make an effort. You can tell her it really bothers you when she does it - that it makes you feel as if she's embarrassed about being out with you in public, or it makes you feel like she's embarrassed to be your fiance, etc.

This is the same type of situation with me and my girlfriend. She was never used to the public affection thing, so when I started dating her she would cuddle in private, kiss me, tell me she loves me, hold my hand, but in public she 'shunned' me. It was hard on me, and at times I felt like breaking up with her over it. I even thought she might be cheating on me or be so ashamed of me she didn't want to hold my hand, but after awhile she got used to us more, became more open. I like to think that I helped her come out of her shell. Even now she's not 100 percent ok with public affection, but I can tell she is making a concious effort to express our love. Just give it some time and let things take their course, eventually she won't be able to resist holding your hand.

In some countries and cultures, the way your fiance behaves is considered normal behavior. Any kind of public affection between men and women is taboo. Only in private this kind of thing is ok.

Perhaps among some fundamentalist christians this is the norm too.

If your fiance grew up among this kind of cultural or religious influences, then her behavior is perfectly normal for her. And you are going to have a huge relationship problem, if you try to change her.

she just may not be comfortable with pda ( public display of affection). ask her. i am sure that if you guys have a good relationship she will tell you why. and if she don't then you need to step and reexamine your relationship with each other there may be some type of communication issue.

Is she Asian? If yes....that's how we are taught .....show affection in private- not when people are around. In fact where I was born, we have the saying that those who show their love publicly have nothing going on in private.
