It is a bad translation. It should read, And Pharaoh hardened his heart against God.

God knew that the Pharaoh wouldn't repent, so He let his heart harden. The plagues also showed the power of God and let the Israelites know that God was fighting for them.

The Egyptians worshiped many gods from frogs to nat's.
When God showed he was stronger than there Nile Gods.
By over powering them one by one. Even worshiped Pharaoh and he destroyed the next Pharaoh. Then turned the Nile into blood. So he in essence destroyed their religion. they realized the Israelites god was more powerful. It was a destruction of false religion.

It was for God's glory.

Exodus 10:1-2 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD."

When the Bible says that "God hardened Pharaoh's heart", it like saying "the kid kicking the back of my seat is making me mad". The kid kicking my seat is not making me mad. I am getting mad because the kid is kicking my seat.

"God hardened Pharoah's heart" meas "Pharoah hardened his heart in reaction to what God was allowing to happen (the plagues).

How many people do you know that have hardened their heart against God because of something that has happened in their life?

Because Pharoah did want to free the Israelites (God's chosen people) from slavery. This is the cause for Passover and all the terrible plagues that happened to Egypt

It was probably God allowing satan to harden Pharoh's heart, and Pharoah probably just thought he was maintaining his power and being stubborn at worst.

We will never know what God's reason is for doing what he does. That's the mystery and wonder of God.

pharaoh felt ***** slapped cause LORD GOD stole His slaves to build that land bridge to africa so Roman armies could more easily conquer Africa. Thats how the Lord parted the Red Sea with sand and rock and lots of slave labour. No defying the laws of physics there.

God didn't harden it - the Pharaoh hardened his heart himself.
