No liquids, lotions, lipstick or any othe the assorted products are being allowed as carryons. I was wondering, are gel insoles in shoes are also being banned? The gel used is sometimes the same consistancy as the common liquids being banned.

(This was a random thought I had. Thanks to anyone who can tell me the answer. I can only guess at this point.)

I work for TSA, which handles the US' aviation security and I can tell you that no, gel inserts for shoes are not permitted through airport checkpoints. You can, however, pack them in checked luggage.

FYI, gel-filled bras are permitted to be worn onto aircraft. Go figure:) If you have any other questions, you can visit www.tsa.gov. Hope this helps!

if someone wants to make a bomb out of the gel insoles then they will be banned but as of the moment i don't think so.

heh if they had me take off my shoes in the airport just to look for an insole id be pretty pissed

That is an interesting question. I have gel insoles and have never had a problem. I guess it would be up to TSA at the time of your screening. Interesting

I was just at the airport 2 weeks ago and a guy had gel insoles in his shoes and they made him take them out.

They lifted the ban on the liquids. Seems it was only till right after 9/11.

Yes they are but the biggest problem are the gel (silicone) implants that some women have under their blouses, how do you check those with your luggage????

I heard at one point, those were removed from shoes as well.

there are still ways to get them through security... just stuff them in your pocket and walk through.
