I am an optician...when people order glasses I tell them it takes 7-10 business days until they will be ready and I will call them when they are done.
WHY DO PEOPLE CALL 3 DAYS LATER ASKING "ARE MY GLASSES READY?"
I feel like asking them "did I call you and tell you they are ready?...no? then they aren't ready!!!!!"
Why do people do this? It is so irritating cuz it happens everyday. Why don't tpeople understand that making glasses is a process?

Sorry, I am really irritated.

ok more info...these people wait years to have their eyes checked. 99.9% of the time they already have glasses they are using.

Chuckle..because it seems like 7 days already. My patients do the same thing. They will ask for something and will not even give me time to get down the hall before I get beeped again and they have called about the SAME thing! They don't realize it takes away valuable time taking care of service for them AND others.

You know this society of ours is still heavily based on instant gratification. Perhaps you can explain a bit more about the process of making lenses and frames when you are telling your patients how long it takes and that you will contact them. I find that patient education is useful this way. People tend to be more compliant when they understand why they are taking certain actions. And it wouldn't hurt if your parting words included "Remember, I'll call you when they are ready." or "Expect to hear from my office in about 7 days. But don't worry if it takes a day or two longer than that." Hope this works for you.

i like opticians...they make me see the things i cannot see.....lol
anyway, hey, u try being without glasses for a day and see what happens....especially if a beautiful girl passes by...lol,
but seriously, it can get irritating when u cant see clearly. maybe if we do a statistic on that, the ppl who get involved in car crashes were having their glasses fixed.....hmmmm....would be an irony
or just that ppl are in such a rush for everything else, they forget to plan their schedules.

I think the major reason they call in 3 days instead of Waiting is IMPATIENCE, some thing the majority of Americans and just most people suffer from. They heard you say 7-10 days, but their desire to control their own situations & lives takes over and they can't help themselves from hoping for immediate results.

Don't let it stress you out, Especially because its a situation that you CAN'T control. Put your best foot forward and begin to expect the calls that way they may become less irritating (I hope).

I know its not much but I hope that this information is helpful to you.

Dont get discouraged now, but people are humans and very impatient too and get irritated too.
U should be nice to those folks calling, they really need their glasses.
They call u 3 days later because they really should be ready.
Some places they are ready the same day they are ordered.
Its a fast pacin world , noone wants to wait for something needed like glasses.
Be more kind to the patients, ya know that is how u make money from them.

because people are stupid and don't write things down, and then they forget that you said you would call them. so they think they have to call you, and then get all p.o.'ed b/c they can't remember that you told them you would call them when the glasses were ready in 7-10 days, so they think that 3 days is a sufficient amount of time to make glasses b/c no one likes to wait.

i hate that too. sometimes ppl are just dumb!

since you know this happens I guess it always will. in other places in life. you can call and things are actually done earlier.
the other day i was told i would get something in the mail in 10 days. I got it in 2 days. so as long as there are things we can get earlier we will keep on caling early.
