While I am entering the freeway on the on ramp I stay in the right lane coming on. The car that is already on the freeway is in that lane, when I enter I look over my left shoulder to make sure I do not get in the way of on coming traffic. I speed up to enter onto the freeway. Now here is the question. the oncoming car comes up on my bumper do I suppose to move over, which there is know room to move over, the car turn on his bright lights or either ride my bumper. Who in the hell has the right away. This has happened to me several times. Someone get me straight.

As long as you had a clean shot onto the highway - that is not waiting till the oncoming car was right there - then you have the right of way. A similar question was asked in a safety column I read. Oncoming traffic knows there is a ramp and that the entering traffic is trying to gain speed to safely negotiate the transition. They can slow down or move over - if feasible - while you are trying to enter into traffic. After that you need to maintain a safe speed.

I know what you mean tho'. There are times I swear I have an invisibility shield that I can't even see with the ways cars will cut in front, etc.

People should not be driving on the right lanes. It should be for entry and exit. Unfortunately the person who is already on the highway has the right of way. You should either speed up to get in front or slow down to get behind.

Though I agree with Mike Hunt, there are some ramps that are very short and in some cases they have put up these concrete barriers between the highway and the ramp and you can't see the highway when you are entering it. It is very dangerous. I think that is the dumbest idea.

the traffic on the highway has the right of way. that is why there is a merge sign on the on ramp. you have to merge with traffic. you need to pick up enough speed to merge with traffic going apprx. 65-70mph. if the person in the right lane can move into the left lane then he should, otherwise he should not have to slow down to let you in. you should adjust your speed and come in behind him.
although, i have been in situations where i have had enough room to merge in and the guy in the right lane speeds up so as to not let me in.
always remember the traffic going 65+ has the right of way.

Oncoming traffic, or the traffic that is already on the freeway has the right of way. You need to yield to that right of way. Yes, if your speed is close to the speed limit on the freeway it can help but you are still supposed to yield to those already traveling on the roadway. Courtesy should be shown to you, but you know how people are.

The entrance lane onto the highway has the right of way. Now if your entering under the posted legal speed limit, then you need to kick that mule and get on the roll. You should be entering the highway at no less than 55mph. This is to keep those idiots riding the shoulder lane from ramming you.

Technically they have the right of way. Obviously you aren't going fast enough when you enter. You need to be going to same speed as the traffic on the expressway when you try to merge. That is why the on ramps are so long. He shouldn't be a jerk though. The guy below me is an idiot.

the car on the freeway has the right of way.
merging traffic must yield to on coming traffic.
so speed up and get out of the way!

The larger vehicle. Simple physics. Otherwise, who let let a tractor trailer onto the freeway.

you need to be at good speed when entering the highway...but if you have already got on the highway and the jerk that is on your tail is bright lighting you, you have the right of way. if a wreck was to happen and he hit you from behind it is automatically his fault. so you would have right away.
