Draw the xy-axis and mark off the correct units. Draw a point at the point (0,5) That is the y-intercept. Then count two units up and one unit over to the right and make a point there. That point should be (1,7) Then connect the two points with a line and that is the graph of y=2x + 5.
This graph is a line and the equation takes on the form of y = mx + b. Whenever you have an equation of this form the y-intercept will be the point (0,b) and the slope will be m.

Using the equation y=mx+b, m is the slope of the line and b is where it crosses the y axis. So if x = 0 then y = 5, if x = 1 then y = 7, etc. On the graph, start at the center point, go 5 lines up the y axis, and put a dot. From there, go up 2 and over to the right 1, and put another dot. You can keep going like that or you can just draw the line.

y=2x+5
put x=0, y=5
put x=1, y=2*1+5=7
put x= -1, y=2(-1)+5
y= -2+5
y=3
so co-ordinates of points lying on given line are (0,5),(1,7),(-1,3)
plot these point on graph paper and you will get a straight line which is graph of y=2x+5

y=2x+5
y=mx+b with m being the slope and b is the y intercept
from here you know that the slope of the line is 2/1 (rise over run) and the y intercept is 5.
plot (0,5) on the graph.
Using the slope you can find the next point.
count up two and one to the right. this will give you the point (1,7)
you can find more points using the slope to do the same thing with (1,7) (the next point would be (2,9))
draw a line connecting all the points.

the 5 is the y-intersept, so now you have one point on the graph. the 2x, the slope, can also be written as 2/1 x so the slope is 2 over 1, rise over run. so go up 2 over 1 from the y-intersept. Connect the dots.

need constant help with graphs.
visit mytutor.8k.com
anyway, start with x =0, calculate y form the coordinate (x,y) and locate on graph paper
go on increasing x and compute respective value for y
since given eq is of the form mx+c = 0, the graph would be a straight line with x-intercept : x = -5/2, and y -intercept : y=5

the eq is y=2x+5
let x=-2
then y=2(-2)+5
y= -4+5 = 1
thus we get point A(-2,1)
again let x=0
the y=2(0)+5
y=0+5 = 5
Thus we get point B(0,5)
NOW plot the pts A(-2,1) & B(0,5) on the graph paper.......
your problem is soved

You have to recognize that this is slope-intercept(y=mx+b), where m is the slope and b is the y intercept. You would plot a point at (0,5) and then go up 2 and right 1 and plot another point and then draw a line containing those 2 points.
