I'm only 21 but my knee crackles when I bend it, it only hurts if I twist it or I'm going using stairs. My bio professor says it's probably "crepitus." Does anyone know the best therapy for it?

Crepitus is the sound of tissues or bones rubbing together. It is most commonly cited as an obvious sign of a fracture - but can also occur in arthritic or previously injured joints.

Your best bet would be to see your physician, who may recommend physical therapy - or possible referral to an orthopedist.

Arthroscopy, when the time comes. Mine did that for years, and FINALLY, they x-rayed my right knee and saw the degenerative arthritis there. The cartilage was practically non-existent by then. Doing much better since the scope and with occasional Synvisc injections, I can exercise again. I feel and probably look better now at 48 then I have in a very long time!
