If you use the heavier weights, you're going to build the size of the muscle and make it stronger - if you use the lighter weight, you're going to tone the muscle and make it stronger, but you'll also increase endurance.
If you're dead-set on getting bigger and stronger, but not about how long you can do something (like row a boat or play tug of war), then lift the heavier weight.

Definitely heavier weights. Many people believe that doing lower weights and many reps will give muscle definition but its just not true. You either build muscle or you don't its that simple. If you building muscle and you want more definition then you need to lose fat and as the fat leaves your muscles (and your whole body for that matter) will become more defined.
I recommend heavier weights where you are straining to do 6-8 repetitions. This is the optimum condition which will make your workouts more efficient.
Hope this helps,

don't do more than you can handle.
Why not start with a heavier weight, do ten. Then grab the medium and do another ten to twenty. Then go lighter and do even more.
You'll find, by the time you get to the really light weights, your arms will be so tired it will feel like you're doing the heavy weights.

If you're looking to build muscle, fewer reps with heavier weights is best. If you're looking to tone muscle, it's best to go with more reps with lighter weights.

if you want to be well toned do big weights less reps, if you want muscle and lots of it do small weights lots of reps that will make your muscles a lot bigger but if you stop working out for a week or two they can go quicker than if you did heavier weights

I don't know about heavier weights, but I've had great results by "lifting to failure". I don't know what anyone else considers it, but it lift a certain weight until I absolutly cannot list it anymore. When doing this it's a great idea to have a spotter.

not too heavy or u will be sore.
Just remember to lift weights every other day instead of every day .
Try to lift em up to 100 times every other day, doing 50 , then rest, deep breathes, then 50 more.
Do weights on ankles too to strengthen knees and legs.
