I set out a 25" portable tv by the street for the trash pickup and the men left it behind. The weight should not be an issue since i carried it out to the street by myself.

TVs are full of lead.
They don't like putting lead in the ground even though I hear MO is full of lead mines. Call the trash pick up people and they will tell you how to dispose of it. Once, I went to Goodwill after hours and left my old TV for them. They have people who fix the stuff to sell so I imagine someone fixed it and they sold it for a lot of money to help the poor people. (yeah, this is what happens)

I live in rural Missouri and I can say that our sanitation truck and it's employees probably would not pick up a television either, not because it's toxic, but because the glass and hard plastic shards from its casing might damage the sides or insides of the truck or crusher. Our trash guys wont take any yard waste (trees or limbs) or furniture of any kind because as the crusher thingy crushes it can force those items through the metal truck sides.
