I have 5 kids and have just started reading labels and making changes I have banned crisps and choclate (weekends only) and am trying to make sure that most things they eat are healthy.
However what really bugs me is the attitudes of others even my partner who acts like the biggest kid of all when he is deniede a choclate biccy my sister also tells me i'm been cruel but hey at least I know i'm not the only one trying to keep my kids healthy
good luck
(wetabix are good and nora sands has some good breakfast cereal recipies)

Not a great idea. You don't want baby to learn that all foods are sweet. Some foods are naturally sweet -- others are tart or savory or even bitter. The whole point of solids, in the early months of offering them, is to accustom baby to all those different flavors and textures. (Once baby is on table foods, s/he will start getting some 'added sugar foods' (like candy and sweetened fruits), but for now -- the sugar in breastmilk or formula provides ample simple carbs.

While I agree that it isn't healthy to eat so much sugar, I think we can expect a backlash to this "healthy eating" campaigns. My children eat more sugar and fats than I believe are good for them, but they're certainly not overweight. In fact, they always wear an age size younger than they actually are. It's because I try to give them a balance, with the emphasis on fruit and vegetables and meat. If they eat the occasional bowl of high sugar cereal, KitKat or other biscuit or chocolate, I don't worry. They're so busy and active that they burn off calories before they could sit on their hips. Children today need less fatty/sweet foods, it's true, but they also need exercise. My children swim, play tennis, netball, horse ride and cycle. I think if we ban sweets and cakes, we're just going to make kids resentful.

I have to watch my salt intake, Try that one too! Healthy Choice, 23-25% SALT! They they call it HEALTHY! I've gotten so I cook more to control the salt and sugar. FYI, I don't think every many people know that any pre-pared foods can have up to 20% foreign materials in them. That is mice droppings, rat hair and bugs!!!! That will make you think twice about the food you eat....

Rest assured, you are not alone. But they do it because there is a demand for it. Why do drug dealers sell drugs? Why is there such a huge porn market? Yes, because there is a demand for it. None of these are positive attributes, none are the right way to go, but people don't always make the right choices... do they?

I Guess so.
My son is underweight, a fussy eater and this healthy eating crap is undermining my efforts to get him to a reasonable body weight for his height. He cant eat what he wants to at scool ant more so he doesn't eat anything. brilliant!

i dont think manufacturers give two hoots about the welfare of our children. all they are interested in is making money. the government is largely to blame for this, because they let these firms self regulate.

Don't buy it then, why not get all the ingredients and make the kids food yourself, then you'll know exactly what is in it.
