Siberians... aren't they just gorgeous dogs?! I have one and at first the digging was driving me insane! But after watching her I realized that she is doing it to keep cool. So now I have her set up in a part of the yard that is labeled "Queen Sheba's Domain". She can dig to her hearts content now! Just this summer I found that her digging can actually be put to use. I had a flower bed I wanted to dig up and instead of moaning and groaning about it... I brought Sheba over and we dug it up together *smile* Good luck!!

Dogs dig because of several reason, boredom being one, frustration if they smell something and think it's under the dirt. But the best way to get your dog to stop is to make sure he's getting plenty of exercise time even if its just throw a ball across the yard and letting him get it, and also try putting his feces in the area he's digging. MOST dogs will avoid digging where their own feces is. So if he's tired and there is poo where he's trying to dig it should stop him.

Sorry but your not going to stop him. I have two and my yard is filled with holes. Thankfully only in one section. But it is in there nature to dig as it is with most dogs. You have to remember that when outside they get hot pretty easy and they dig to find the nice cool dirt to lay in. Unless they find some creature in the grownd then they are trying to dig that out. Haha! You could consider taking him to an obedience class, some of them around my town offer help on digging dogs, but you probablly won't be able to stop it on your own. Good luck though.

My shepherd quit digging when I started filling the holes in & right at top before last layer of dirt, I dumped in her poop. Serves two purposes. Cleaned the yard & eventually stopped the digging

It's part of being a husky to dig. They do it for several reasons, but you will never fully get the dog to stop. I have one and he is inside most of the time but he digs when we walk him or he is palying with his friends. Boredom does it and it is just their instinct to do it..

There is no way to stop it all together. I have had my enite yard dug and re-dug. A lot of exercise and toys to play with are a good start, but dogs just like to dig.

Pour concrete over your yard. As your dog digs into the concrete, this will cause their paws to hurt and bleed. This will teach the dogs a lesson.

I was blessed with a sibe that does not dig. I have asked about this and some breeders have told me that there really isn't anything you can do. It is just part of their nature. I just try to have alot of toys and other things for her to play with outside. Good luck - I know they can be a handful!!

It's okay to have one hole. Cover all holes except one. He's bored and needs attention. Watch him and tell him "no" and then call him inside and wipe his dirty paws. Eventually he'll loose interest in digging.

Get a shock collar, when you catch him starting to dig a hole give him a little jolt. I know it sounds cruel but trust me it doesn't hurt them, I zapped myself with my dogs collar just to make sure it wouldn't hurt them. It just lets them know that they aren't suppoused to be doing that
