I am a mom of 3, and you never know when the baby will come, so you should get ready now. However, my doctor told me that they want you to wait until at least 36 weeks. He told me if I started labor before then, he would try to stop it and hold off. My first son was 4 weeks early, my second was 3 days later than my due date, and my third was induced 11 days before the due date because he was really big.

The earliest that it is healthy to deliver a baby would be 38 weeks, BUT it would mostly depend on your docter, your situation, your city/state. Everywhere is different. Most docs will say IF EVERYTHING looks good and healthy they will start to induce at 39 weeks, other will do nothing early, other will not induce, others at 38 weeks, yet others will let you have a c-section to take the baby out early, and others refuse.
So technically you would need to talk to your docter about it all and figure out what he will and wont do, as well as what he can and cant do. Thats where youll get a for sure answer.

Anything after 36 weeks is considered full term. My doctor had told me before that if you go into labor on your own after 35 weeks they will not do anything to try to stop you. So you should get the shopping done now. I was due May 1st and had mine on April 12th!

Most pro's (docs) like to wait until wk. 38 to say you are safe for delivery. Most commonly women can go into labor anyday after they pass the 38wk mark. Do not wait to get yourself and your home prepared. I had a trouble-free preg. recently and procrastinated getting things ready. I had just hit wk. 36 when I went into labor and had my baby!!! So, you never know, and you're not going to feel any better as the preg. goes on, so I would do everything I could to get ready now. Good luck.

When I was pregnant the doctors told me that you don't have a due date, you have a due month. What they meant by this was it is possible to go into labor any where from 38-42 weeks, and that the baby would be perfectly fine during any of this time.

a baby is considered a premature if it is born before 38 weeks but I have seen ladies go into 42 weeks...the docs could be off by a week or two as well so I would go ahead and get the shopping done...you never know what is going to happen.

you could have the baby at any time now. Some people deliver early. 37 weeks is the week most doctors try to make it until though. I had my son at 28 weeks and he turned out perfect.

37-42 weeks is full term. Baby can come at any time during that time frame, some come sooner, some later. I wouldn't even dream of trying to MAKE it come sooner than week 40 like some idiot suggested.
