Yes, I do think they could donate a percentage to charity. They're rich enough.

I agree that it's a good thing to help others, but it's a free country. You can't force someone to donate because then it's not a donation. Donations are voluntary. Celebrities aren't the only people with millions or even billions of dollars. If the government were to start deducting charitable gifts from people over a certain income then who decides where the money goes? Also, that leaves us all open for the government to add deductions to our paychecks for purposes other than taxes.

Forced? NO, of couse not! It should be because they WANT to not because they have too and it's not about just writing a check either-it should involve some real volunteer time too. There are lots already who help out both ways and those are the actors, etc. that we admire most because of their efforts and genorosity. Look at Brad Pitt and Cher for current examples. They're ding things that our own president is unwilling to do.Brad Pitt is rebuilding part of the poorest and worst hit neighborhood in New Orleans and Cher's auctioning off some of her stuff to donate the $ to ensure the safety of our soldiers since they went into this war pretty unprotected. Famous people as anyone else should have the desire to help others not be forced to.

They probably do donate. They need the tax deductions. Also, as much as we know there are hurting people everywhere, how do you know where the money is being spent? Different rebel factions in Africa, especially Sudan, have painted red cross on their vans, and when the people appear for aid, they are being shot down. We need to find a way to get businesses in ther so these people will have jobs. We need to stabilize the government so so the farmers who plant crops will still be in the same place when it's time to harvest. How do we do this? Throwing money at them is obviously not working. Any ideas?

Yes but I think many people do donate to diffrent charity its so hard to know which ones to donate to.Its so sad that sometimes when people donate to those countrys the government just takes it from the poor and gives it to the military. However we should all still donate. There are groups like christian children fund that are legit. Its sad that those of us who wish we could do some good usaully dont have the money where as some stars in hollywood have diamond studded collars for their dogs and give them only evian water.

Trouble is, its not possible for celebrities (or anyone) to be "forced" to give money to charity. Where would we draw the line? Its not just celebrities that are mega rich. Why would this apply to just celebrities? Some celebs are morally decent enough to donate willingly such as Angelina Jolie for example. Your idea sounds good in theory but would never work in practise im afraid.

specific you're able to do this, even though it you will nevertheless be out of pocket for the version between the donation and the tax fee decrease value rates. in case you donated the $10k you will shop approximately $3,3 hundred in taxes yet could nevertheless have $6,seven-hundred under you are able to have had in case you had no longer made the donation. actual, $250k falls approximately halfway interior the 33% bracket so which you will no longer drop a bracket besides. Spending funds to shop taxes purely approximately in no way will pay off. Make the donation for the sturdy that it does, no longer for any tax fee decrease value rates.

Noone should be forced to donate. Alot of celebrities do donate to different charities. They always make sure we know about it to so we can all say how wonderful, kind and generous they are. Everyone should donate to charity whether it is 1.00 or 1 million dollars.

I get your point, but no one should be FORCED to help others. I think that our society should work toward instilling the value of helping others so that people wouldn't even have to think about helping someone in need (they'd just do it).
Now, we seem to be more concerned with how much we've got, how much more we can get, and feeling good if we have more than someone else. Greed.
Here's my theory: if you can afford a $75,000 car, why not buy a $50,000 car for yourself and buy a $25,000 car for someone who needs a car but can't afford one. You've still got a nice car, but someone else in need has one too.
Remember, though, a lot of celebrities DO make a lot of charitible donations (you don't always hear about it, but they do).

No. Charity should be given out of the goodness of the heart. If we were to do that why stop at Celebrities, let's all be forced to give. Anyway I find that most celebrities are extremely generous. They lend their time, money and fame to many endeavors.
