I wouldn't worry so much about the camera, I would worry about being able to see again....

nothing will happen to your camera.... a super high speed film should get you a decent picture but I would not suggest looking directly through the viewfinder... now if its a digital thats a different story you can just look on the back screen and it will be fine... so either way regular film or digital you will be ok just not wise to look directly into it... and with the zoom well trial and error will get you the best results... I would say try sunsets or sunrises first and go from there... GL...

Yes you can take pics of the sun, it wont hurt the cam at all you can zoom in all you want but dont look at it until the pic is taken it could hurt your eyes. Pics of the sun are really cool I think you'll be surprised at what you will see.

No, you won't hurt your camera, because it is not a living thing. Your pictures may not turn out though unless you use a filter to block out certain rays that are harmful to the human eye, but not a camera.

If you're using a film camera, it is possible that the automatic metering and focusing sensors could get fried. With a digital camera, the entire system could be lost.

Don't try it unless you're using some hi quality filters.

I have taken a successful picture but just make sure you are not looking at the sun otherwise it will damage your eyesight.
