I'm guessin you don't have driver's licenses yet cuz 40 miles is nothing.. in the meantime get on the same cellphone company so you can take full advantage of free mobile to mobile calls....

Yeah you can make it work. The only thing is (if your too young to drive) yet, then maybe you need to think about having a friend to hang out with at the prom, homecoming, etc. So if you can drive then 40 miles is not a long way at all. I have been dating someone for about 8 months and he lives in another county, right next to mine. It takes about 45 minutes to get there. We are doing great. He has his space and I have mine. We're not together enough to be in each others face all the time. Then, when we do get together, we are glad to see each other. Do you understand? I want to wish you the Best Relationship Ever!!!!

Since neither of you have your driver's license you must be 15 or younger.
I did find my husband at 14 and he was 17. I know that doesn't sound like much difference, but he has always been more mature than his years. We have been married for 33 yrs.
I say go with your gut instinct as well as what makes sense. Both of you stay in school. There is lots of time for dating. By the way we both stayed in school and attended college too.
Now I am a nurse/artist and he is a Registered Land Surveyor.
You both have many years ahead of you, so have some fun.
Good luck and take care.

if you're breaking up over being 40 miles apart then i assume you're not old enough to drive??? and if you are old enough to drive and both of you are making a big deal out of 40 miiles, then maybe it's time to re-evaluate your "love" for each other..a long distance relationship is having your man a couple of states away or maybe even a continent! THAT'S something to break up over!

don't worry, you sound young. you both did the right thing by waiting until you're older to see each other more. but don't stop living your life- move on...you never know what the future holds.

best of luck to you and your man.

40 miles isnt that far.. unless you are both too young to drive, then i would say you should move on and see other people until you can find a better way to be together. If you love each other that much, you will still love each other in a few years and you can start where you left off.

I'm guessing and I may be wrong but I would say you guys are not done with school yet right? My Wife and I met on Yahoo chat 6 years ago. She lived in Pittsburgh And I was in Chicago. It was Really tough she was in collage and I had a good full time job. It all comes down to what you can do that wont hurt your future. If you are in school like she was you have to finish that or your life will only get harder to deal with. I left every thing I knew and moved to the town she was going to school at only because I was done with school. It took use two years before we got to spend any real time face to face. Waiting sucks but it is a great way to find out what your real feelings are. When you wait you find out if feelings fade or grow stronger. Just tough it out and stay in contact like we did. I hope this helps you out.

Who decided to break up? You or him? If was him, then he wants to play the field if you do not want to play with him. Guys have their guy thing, and girls are more loving and caring. I think 40 miles apart is a tough one if you are too young to drive a car. I am sure if he could drive he would be there with you as much as possible. Hope I have helped in some way.

If you love something let it go, if it comes back it was ment to be. Stay friends and when time passes by you guys will still have each other. I think that this is the best idea right now. I know a lot of people who do this and in the end their relationship come up happy and healthy.

I've been into long distant relationship. I used to be far from my beloved by 90 miles and we're fine actually we're married now and we're blessed with two cuddly kids.

It will be hard for starters but you'll be able to cope with the situation. Hanging-outs and stuffs, well that's have to be sidelined for a while but if you're really in love with each other you'll be both fine just keep the communication open. ^_^

How old are you? My girlfriend lived 60 miles away and now we are married. Of course, I was 22 and she was 24 at the time and 60 miles is only an hour drive, so we saw each other all the time.

Since you're calling your boyfriend a Dude, I'm going to assume you're in High School. I think you should date someone that is closer to you. Trying to maintain a long distance relationship is hard on adults let alone teenagers. You will miss out on plenty of things trying to maintain this relationship. Like will he be able to manage to take you to Home Coming? Prom? What about the weekends? Going to movies or games?

It's just my opinion that high school is way more fun without an absentee boyfriend.
