Can any of you suggest a saint to ask for intercession for someone caught up in a multi-level marketing company? I know people who are caught up in a bad mlm and I would like to pray that they come to their senses and quit. I can think of maybe St. Dominik, St. Augustine or St Anthony, but if any of you have better suggestions, please feel free to let me know.
Thank you!

spamandaham,
Of course I have told my friends to leave. It falls on deaf ears. When you are caught up in a mlm you eat, breathe and live it. No one can turn you away from it. I would rather that they come to their senses rather than lose all their savings and become destitute by blindly believing in this horrible organization.

To all you haters,
If you don't have anything nice to say, at least don't disparage my religion.
No, we Catholics don't pray to Saints. We ask for their intercession. Saints are venerated, not worshipped. Big difference.
Do you know what a Saint is? Any Soul who went to heaven is a saint. A CANONIZED saint is a saint is someone who is declared a saint here on earth through the vatican that they are undoubtedly already a saint because of many miracles performed by them. It is a rigorous process.
You ask for a Saints intercession in the same way that you ask for friend to help you along if they are in a higher position than you. All saints are with God. They are not God, but they are always in his presence.
Of course I can pray to God direct and I do! But if God has saints that are intercessors for a specific cause - it would behoove me to ask them for help too!
I hope none of you ever get caught up in a cult or mlm. They make you cut off everyone you know. God help them!

Related types of concerns:
Patron saint of businessmen: St. Nicholas
Of criminals (I know that's an oversimplification of MLM, I don't mean it quite that way): St. Dismas, the good thief
Of hopeless causes: St. Jude
Of those betrayed by someone close to them: St. Lucy
God bless!

Which MLM scam might that be... Christianity? Christianity is essentially a criminal business enterprise... in fact, it is the world's longest running and most successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. The product they are selling is the illusion of 'salvation'... and the 'pay plan' doesn't kick in until after you're dead. Meanwhile the VICTIMS (having been deceived into believing that it is their God-given duty) are out there busily recruiting MORE victims. What a racket! FORTUNATELY, it only works on those who are gullible enough, and sufficiently lacking in critical thinking skills, to fall for it, and buy in to the prepackaged delusion. UNfortunately, THAT accounts for about 75% of the population of the USA. (There are a lot more people who DON'T know how to think properly than there are people who DO know how to think properly.) That is why there are a lot more religious people in the USA than there are 'Free-thinkers'... including Atheists. Also, Christians are generally too dense to realize that proselytizing (spreading the 'good news') is a key element of the Christian MLM MARKETING PLAN, which was instituted after Christianity lost the political power that had previously allowed them to simply torture and kill anybody who did not comply. Now, they obliviously try to just pester and annoy people to death, through persistent obnoxiousness. If you stop to think about it, you will realize that Christians are very much like the Borg, on Star Trek Next Generation: "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." I would not be surprised to learn that thoughts of Christianity provided the 'creative spark' for the Borg concept.

I am not Catholic, But how can the dead pray to God?Why don't you pray to him yourself for this? I will never understand how people can pray to a saint and think it is going somewhere. They are dead just like the pope's. Jesus is the only one who can hear you not a dead saint. It Say's in the bible that no one comes to the father but through me(Jesus) I think you will get better results if you a live person prays

make one up, it's all the same difference.
I am a former Catholic- I never could get a straight answer or figure out what the actual foundation or criteria for becoming a saint of a particular thing is- it is just not Biblical.
Is God not powerful enough to handle it all?? What is Biblical is to pray regarding all things in the name of Jesus Christ- I am pretty sure He can handle it.
It is only us, with our limited understanding and our limited abilities that want to limit what God can do and delegate His responsibilities to others that are dead and can do nothing for us. That is idolotry- placing ourselves above God that we would be so bold as to take His authority and delegate it to the impotent- if we truly believe that God is omnipotent then lets start walking in that belief. If you need something at work, don't ask a dead man- take it straight to the one who is alive and well and knows all oyur needs before you even ask and is just waiting for you to come to Him and develop that relationship with Him.

How about praying to the theif on the cross next to Jesus that asked Jesus to remember him when jesus went to Heaven? he is referred to as St. Dismas.
St. Dismas came to his senses while being crucified. You could ask him to pray to God on behalf of your friends that like him, your friends may repent of their wrongdoing and ask for forgiveness.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary had a real hard-nosed confessor. Maybe she'd be good.

This is a marketing question, and the saints are not only fancy images or an opportunist fundraising.
That's why in the 16th century the Catholic had a rupture...
