I bought my fiancee a Canon SD700 which we both like a lot and I found this in the skymall magazine when I flew back from visiting her this weekend. http://www.skymall.com/shopping/search.htm (not sure if the link works).

Is this something that is cool and priced right or is this a rip-off? There is one picture that we both like and I will have her email me the high res pic, but is this service a neat thing or is there a better cheaper way to print and frame a nice picture to an 11x14?

For the ladies, would you like to have something like this send to you from your sweetheart?

Sorry for that but you have to search for "canvas on demand" when you click on the link.

You might want to check out this link for York Photo. http://www.yorkphoto.com/storegiftsforher I have used them in the past for poster sized prints and was satisfied. My daughter uploads her ditgital pics to them for regular sized prints and has had good results.

If you don't need to go larger than 8"x10", The_Rock's suggestion is good.

To get an excellent picture, you need 300 dots per inch. So by that formula, you need an image of 3300 by 4200 pixels which translates to over 12 megapix.

However, one can get by with say 150 dpi. In this case you need approximately half the earlier pixels and you would be in the 6 megapix range.

Try it out.

I bought a HP printer, scanner, copier, at Walmart for $50.00 that has it's own program to blow up and save high resolution pictures. I can produce them myself by just purchasing the Kodak paper and using their program that came with the printer free, and just printing them. The printer is a HP 1400 series.
