IATA states that you can have up to three incorrect letters in the spelling of a surname. If the agency has sent a message to the airline (what is called an OSI) then they have done the right thing. Middle Eastern airlines are generally very lenient as if they had to get every name of every passenger right, they would never get an aircraft off the ground. Domestic flights are fairly relaxed though international flights are given more attention. It is vital to have the correct name, however, for flights in and out of the USA.

You should call the airline directly. what airline is it? here are numbers for a few US Carriers :

AirTran Airways: 1-800-247-8726
Delta Connection: 1-800-221-1212
Frontier Airlines: 1-800-432-1359
Northwest Airlink: 1-800-225-2525
United Express: 1-800-241-6522
US Airways Express: 1-800-428-4322

HOWEVER, idf it is just the like last letter of your first name (for example) you likely will be okay. but always better to call and confirm or at least let them know.

the problem is not necessarily the Airline check in process, the probelm would come at the security check point, where names MUST match. it is an EASY thing for the airline to do if you jsut call and talk to customer service.

hope this helps :)

I went with a school group to Japan and the school group streesed to get the spelling right for the travel agent as we were told that your ticket must match you passport name.

The tickets came back and 5 of the 17 tickets had spelling erors

One girl Marika, her name was spelt Marita. Another Boy, Douglas was spelt Doglus.

They went through fine and with out a hitch. I hope that they do'nt make spelling errors like that again!

shop a duplicate of the notification with you in any respect circumstances, purely in case. the best undertaking is to cancel the fee ticket and characteristic a clean one offered interior the right call. The shuttle company would desire to shield this. in case you could not do this, then you incredibly would desire to examine with the provider ( which air line your utilizing) to make certain if this would be subject. they are able to furnish you the right answer. yet you identity would desire to tournament your fee ticket.
