It's not expensive to have kids I think life is expensive right, I mean we have to raise them and get them through college...etc The reason I ask this is because my husbands family thinks I am wrong.

I never knew how poor I was until I got married and had kids... Unfortunately, it's not something you can prepare for. Everyday is an experience and a challenge. You just have to be good at juggling the books when needed without getting in over your head. (That goes with everything, no just kids) The only way you can learn this type of experience is just to live it and learn. College is expensive because it is an added cost. But Kind in general do take a chunk of change. There are many times I do without to make sure my son has what he needs. But that is okay? I love him....He can never be replaced... They just have a habit of growing up too quick. (The older they get, the more expensive the toys)

So, I agree with you. They are expensive....money, time, investments, life. Oh well....Good Luck and have fun,

I have three kids and even if you just do what has to be done, clothing, food, medical, etc it is still expensive then throw in the fact that they will want to do sports, have toys, be in things at school etc and the cost can be staggering. Last I heard and that was many years ago it was close to 200k to raise one to age 18. School started here the middle of Aug and at last count we had already spent over $500 in just extra fees for soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, band and scouts. You aren't wrong it is expensive but very much worth it.

It is expensive, they say that the average cost of raising a child until they are 18 is about 100,000 dollars. Not including the sleepless nights, broken hearts, ect. But if you were to have one, the cost wouldn't matter anymore. They are the most precious thing in the world.

I say not expensive.

If you breastfeed you will never pay the high cost of formula. If you cloth diaper you dont need to buy diapers every week. There are lots of hand me downs to be had by friends and family for clothing.

They can earn scolarships for college and help pay thier own way.

Kids seem to be expensive becuse so many parents think that kids need all sorts of "things" to live. They dont. They need parents that love them.

it is all relative. having and raising a child costs a lot of money. life can be expensive, but it does not have to be. you just need to set your priorities. do you want to spend $800 on a purse when you have doctor visits, diapers, and baby clothes to worry about? before my wife and i had our daughter, we used to splurge on shopping, trips, and dining at nice restaurants every other night. we didn't need to do all that, but we were able to at the time. now, we shifted our priorities to spend more time raising our baby, which is the best thing that has ever happened to us.

our baby girl made our lives so much richer.

If you dont have health insurance it costs $10,000 to give birth in a hospital....now ask again, is it expensive to have kids? Oh wait, you mean just to give birth to one or actually have one. To have one, my cousin spent about $5,000 last year on her kid. Toys, clothes, food, etc etc...You will know when you have kids.

it's exspensive but well worth it. You have to pay for healthcare, clothing, presents, college, maybe their wedding . I have two boys and I worry about college yes I'm saving for their college but I'm sure I'll have to take out loans for them, I'll work 3 jobs if I have to so they do go to college I love them and would do anything for them.
