Your video card has to have tv-out normally its a S-Video port. If your not sure look at the back of the graphic card. Do you only see a place to put the montor cable? If so then your card does not support output to the TV

I went through this exercise about a year ago. I bought a mac mini when they first came out thinking it would be a great way to do computer stuff in the living room. Unfortunately, running a computer at 480i makes the desktop completely unusable. If you make the fonts big enough to read, you can't get enough text on the screen to make it worthwhile.

So that puts the kibosh on ordinary standard definition TVs.

But if you have a high-definition TV, that's a whole different kettle of fish.

We wound upgrading our TV to a 50" DLP 720p set, and from six feet away, it's perfectly usable. At 1080i, we'd need to sit a little bit closer to be able to read the fonts without straining, but a 720p desktop is perfect for us.

So while you can get TV out video cards for PCs, I'd say that trying to use a computer on a standard definition TV isn't worth it.

Most newer graphics cards come with an S-video out, from that you can use an adapter and connect the TV and computer via the 3 piece A/V plugs found on most TV sets. Otherwise, you can get an A/V out card for your PC.

Yep, as curiousman says, run up from about 10 metres, and hold the computer in front of you. Don't give up on contact, really push out with your arms.

If you are really strong, the 'puter will go right through the TV (especially if it's LCD or plasma) and out the other side.

Easy.
