Is there any way I can use and old digital camera, say Olmpus C1, as a monitor? Can you feed the video signal into the camera by modifying it? I need to mount the camera some way away but view the screen outside so a proper TV monitor is not practical

No.

Not unless you remove the screen and build your own circuit to power it.

My Olympus C1 connects to my pc via a usb connection and it then acts as a mass media drive, it cannot be reversed as the pc only reads the memory card. You cannot feed a signal into it.
