I have tried a leash in the tub, getting in the tub with them, even a kiddie pool outside!! It's hard to coax a 150 lb. dog somewhere he does not want to go!!!

...and I thought my Boxer was a handful...I usually have to pick him up and carry him into the bathroom to get him in the tub -- We found it was just easier to bathe him outside -- we hook the water hose up to the kitchen sink so the water isn't cold and my husband and I bathe him together so one of us can hold the dog and the other can actually get the bathing done.
Best of luck!

One suggestion is to fill your tub with water and let the sun warm it until it is lukewarm instead of putting them into cold water.

Another suggestion is to be gentle when you bathe them and talk to them while they are being bathed.

A third suggestion is this: dry them off immediately after the bath so that they don't get cold and dirty again.

A fourth suggestion is--see if you can find a toy for them such a ball, a duck, or something fun for them to play with during and after the bath. This prolongs bath time if used during the bath but it may help occupy the dog's attention if all else fails.

There is a commercial powder preparartions that can be brushed into the fur and then brushed out. It removes the oils and oily accumulations in the fur. (They are used for humans as well as dogs and are safe.), The dogs do not get wet during this procedure and most do not mind it. Enquire at your favorite pet store or vet.

first off plan on getting wet get into the tub with the dog stand over them and its just like petting, run your hands up&down there side as you wash & rinse. have a large plastic container handy for rinsing my Female GSD acts like your trying to kill her at the first sight of the tub but after a few min of this petting & stroking she relaxes and just stands there

my dog hates bath time too, she just does not like the water. I take her to a grooming place and its less of a hassle for me and her when a professional is doing it.
