I have pics of my 4.5 week old kittens here. I am trying to figure what breed or crossbreed these little guys are. I would also like to find a website that lists common domestic breeds with lots of pictures. Thanks!http://orphankittens.livejournal.com/

there are many breeds of cats if a breed is unknown, then they are considered Domestic Short, medium or long hair. there is also a diference in American Domestic short hair, and British or European Domestic Short hair cats European DSH cats have a longer coat than American DSH. These cats are very common.
Many further the labels as to the coat type but the coat type is not a distinctive breed charateristic, but will help identify individual cats from one another. Most cat breeds have been bredd from various DSH or DLH or DMH cats for specific traits.

Also there are oriental domestic haired cats. the foundtion for siamese, persians, balinese, etc.

With this said I think these kittens are common domestic short haired cats with one solid Blue and the other bi colored coats

Most cats are just Domestic shorthairs, longhairs, etc. Don't know why everyone thinks there cat is some sort of a breed. Unless you paid a lot of money for them from a breeder, they are not any sort of a breed. These little guys look like Domestic shorthairs.

Yup, Chase is a domestic short hair gray, and Ashton is a domestic short hair, gray and white tabby.

Domestic long hair, medium hair, and short hair are all terms given to cats that are not of a specific breed....basically, the mutts of the cat world:) These terms are applied to each cat based on the length of the coat, then colors are assigned.

They're both adorable, but since I LOVE all gray cats (my husband and I want one, actually), Chase is my favorite. Gorgeous kitties:) Keep up the good work!

Ashton and Chase are just too cute for words. You should enter a picture or two of them for: www.thedailykitten.com. I go there a lot to get my "kitten fix" for the day or week.

It's really hard to tell with a young kitty what to label them. All little kittens are "fuzzy" like your two guys. So only time will tell if they are DSH(domestic short hair), DMH (domestic medium hair), of DLH (domestic long hair).

It is really hard to tell from the pictures.
They are probably American shorthairs, if I had to guess on a breed mix, the little grey one sort of looks a bit Nebelung.
Whatever they are, they sure are cute.

Cats are either "Brand Name" :) like Siamese or Angora, which are long haired cats, or just what vets call "American Sort Haired", which are the regular cats we see everywhere. They're a result of a mix of different breeds and they're not just one type anymore, I think your kittens fall into this last category.

These are the typical DSH...domestic shorthair. The average, see them every day, run of the mill kittens. They are NOT a cross breed, or a breed for that matter!!! Just DSH!!!!!!!!

Cute!!! I think they are American Shorthairs. One is a gray tabby and the other is a bi-colored gray and white. That's my best guess. They look super adorable and a lot of fun.
