It's not the size of the place you live it's how much are time you willing to spend making sure you're dog gets exercise. There are lots of small daogs that need alot of exercise and lots of big ones that don't need as much, but if you are willing to walk and take the dog to the park everyday it shouldn't matter that the dog is sleeping in an apartment. If you are looking for a smaller laid back dog you could try an english bulldog, but be careful they can get stubborn, they need trainning early. Good Luck

The kind that are seeking there independence from there mothers and fathers. Those that don't like to do large amounts of yard work, but remember location location location close to the college the mall and easy shopping. I liked apartment living because there was an ample supply of single college women(that's where i got my wife)so i recommend an apartment to establish responsibility

obviously small dogs would be the best. But aviod super hyper dogs, such as jack russels etc... They just need a lot of excercise and are always looking for something to do.
Dachsunds and dachund mixes are a good option. Shitzu or Maltese would also be good. Toy poodle may be the best, since they are very highly trainable, smart, and not given to ridiculous barking.
One thing to consider is that you don't get a breed that habitually barks a lot. neighbors will get angry if your dog is always barking, especially in aparments.

A small one that doesn't need to run and that is not considered a "working dog" We just got a Brussels Griffon. She's very happy in our apt. You shouldn't get a puppy if you have to leave it alone very much. If you're gone a lot get an older dog.

Hi,
A small dog that is not hyper should be happy in an apartment. You should consider the miniature and toy breeds. They would be excellent choices. Some of the breeds are Chichichua (chi wa wa), Mini pin (miniature pinscher), miniature poodle, miniature dachshund. There are many others.

No dog would like being cooped up in a little apartment, but if you have to have one get a small dog.

I have a medium/large dog, and she lives with me in my condo, but I take her to work so she is not in there by herself all day. I suggest getting a small dog and make sure you are either home with him/her enough or take her to work if you can.

Pugs would be a good choice. They're also of a better temperament than most other small dogs.
