If you have an extremely large amount of files to transfer you might consider putting your old hard drive in the new computer. This way you get instant access to everything on the old drive, plus the benefit of increased hard drive space.

Easiest and best way would be to hook up the hard drive to the new one and just copy over the files.

If they both can be hooked up at the same time, hook them up to a router/switch and create your own little network. This makes it easy to copy files (especially a large of amount of files) from one computer to another.

I use a 1 GB flash drive, cost about £40 but that was a few months ago. Other than that burn the to a CD or DVD.
