I was helping out in a kindergarten class the other day and was suprised that a few of them had no idea how to spell their name. The ones that were able to complete their projects without teacher involvement blew through them and went to play, but the teacher spent all of her time with the kids who didn't know the letter H. I noticed during the time I was there, the self sufficent kids were barely spoken too while the other ones got all the teachers time. Are the kids who seem like they went to preschool going to get stagnant if they have to wait for all the other ones to catch up?

The "good kids" get short changed in almost every public school. Generally standards are geared towards making sure that everybody can pass so that nobody "feels bad." Meanwhile children with brains and talent are bored bored bored.

its sad....around the world (asia and europe mainly) children our out performing us more and more each year!

Ask an adult in the US to name the head of dept of defense and most wouldnt have a clue
Ask a child the same question in Europe and they could name the entire cabinet!

I don't know where you live, but at my son's school, they have the Gifted/Talented progam to help this sort of thing....the kids who are a little more intellectually advanced, whether it be because of prior pre-school, or parents at home working with them, or whatever, get to be in this program. They have a bit more challenging projects to do. You should refer to those kids as "more intellectual", though, not "good", as some little kids are good, but not as advanced due to their home environment ........

I've heard it is that way in lots of places. (I wouldn't worry too much about the usuary.)
