Most of latin america speaks spanish, the problem is that many latin countries speak their own style of spanish, puerto ricans speak spanish but tend to cut their words in half because they talk so fast, they also pronounce their R's as J's or L's,so even if you speak fluent spanish, you would still have some trouble understanding their spanish, mexicans on the other hand depending on what part of mexico they're from talk like they're singing a tune,Mexican americans mostly from Texas will speak spanish and english on the same sentence better known as spanglish

They speak BOTH Spanish and English, of course! Spanish is the primary language of MOST Puerto Ricans and English is USUALLY taught as a second language because in order to have interaction with ANYONE ANYWHERE outside of the island, MOST LIKELY the mainland U.S., they would have to SPEAK English!

The speak spanish. But as with most languages the dialect varies from region to region. For instance in mexican spanish they might use the word caliente to refer to something hot and spicy. While P.R. would know that meant that they would more likely use the word "pica". However, Spanish in say the dominican republic or columbia would use the feminine versions of words typically used with the masculine in p.r. or mex.
Many italian, filipino, arabic, words have latin root words as well.
Also most people from other countries can speak English although those from the states most often can only speak English.
