Some people find spelling errors irritating - For me I dont think much of it unless I see a lot of (I want u 2 c something) that annoys me but typos are typos and are no big deal in my opinion. If a question is posed in Mental Health then I would see the question for what it is and answer as best I could I personally wouldnt pick on someones spelling in this instance - also people need to remember that not everyone has english as their first language and may still be learning english so are doing the best they can.

Spelling is important for effecive communication. Also, you want to project the image and impression that your education wasn't in vain. That you were paying attention in English class that's why you know how to spell. If you don't want people to question your spelling; just punch spell check before submitting your question. How big a deal is that? Your question belongs to social and science' or even language. What's the point in pointing out when that person already knows.? If you know your spelling is bad; then you have to attempt to correct it every possible way. It's good to learn something. Don't let your pride cloud your ignorance. Ignorance is forgivable but pride isn't.

I agree with some of the other answers: if you want to get useful answers, particularly on a potentially complex issue like health, you need to make your question very clear. If there is ambiguity because of poor spelling or grammar, people won't always understand the question, thus you are likely to get useless answers.

If someone doesnt spell something correctly, it annoys me, and I dont even spare myself, we all make mistakes sometimes but is nt it a matter of respect,? Remember it can be looked at in two angles
1.Ignorance :Means you didnt pay attention to your writing
2.Inability : Means you dont know how to spell..
Now the question is which one will the people who read your writing choose? Will you be there to explain?
Need I say anymore?
(How many times have you seen the word DEFINITELY being spelt as DEFINATELY? Doesnt that annoy you when an intelligent adult whose mother tongue is english doing silly mistakes like that? My mother tongue is not english but I have a lot of respect to the language so I make sure I minimise the mistakes. Please dont do it.)

Some people just like to criticize. They probably don't know the answer to the question and just want to write something. Many people feel better about themselves if they can put others down.
You will get answers telling you that people can and should use spell check. I believe this too, but to each his own. If one does not choose to use spell check, that is his or her choice.

honestly i don't know, but to some people they simply critize your spelling because they either don't believe you are serious even when you spell words wrong and people know what you mean. It really depends on some people. Honestly if somebody asks a question in health and have alot of spelling mistakes, for me i wouldn't complain about their spelling , i would just anwser their question if they ask it very clearly. I would still give them well meaning anwser. Cmom who could spell long names of disease properly ? :)

It may be for the two points that they get and lacking the intelligence to formulate a proper and constructive answer, they try to seem intelligent by pointing out the obvious.

from my experience it is usually ignorance or avoidance of a topic that they care not to talk or know nothing about, so the subject or answering the question is changed to them controlling the conversation, that way they can be back in a safer domain. x x

Bad spelling indicates laziness (the spell check is right there) and nobody likes a lazy person.
