Since no one "thought up" creationism, your question is not valid.
Now, I understand that you don't believe that, and I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, either. However, don't insult mine. I understand that their are similarities between some animals that seems like they are closely related. I even understand that most of our DNA and a Chimpanzee's DNA are identical. However, evolution has some blaring holes in it, too. I believe the human has 23 chromosomes (that's from memory, so if the number is wrong, forgive me). The only other living thing on earth (that we know of) that has 23 chromosomes isn't a chimpanzee, it's not a primate, it's not even an animal; it's a potato. Now when you start adding chromosomes or taking them away, we have never, NEVER seen a positive result. And, if you don't have the same number of chromosomes, offspring are not possible. In fact, the only two examples I know of (and my knowledge is limited) where we have two different species that are "closely related" enough to mate, their offspring are sterile. These examples are crossing a horse with a donkey to make a mule, and crossing a lion and tiger to make a liger or tigon. None of these offspring can reproduce at all. So I don't see how humans and chimpanzees could have possibly come from a common ancestor.
I am also guessing that you don't believe in God. I assume this because of your statement of someone "thinking up" creationism, which is not a comment that an evolutionist Christian would normally make. If I am wrong in that assumption, I apologize. I do believe in God. My reasons for believing in God are based on the testimony of the apostles and on my personal experience. If Jesus did not raise from the dead there is not a single explanation for why the apostles preached that he did. They gained nothing, and all but one were killed for their beliefs. Many people have died for false beliefs, but not those that KNEW whether or not the beliefs were false. These men knew. I have also had personal experiences; one where God has commanded me to pray for someone, although I did not know why. It turned out that the moment I first felt that I needed to pray for her she was raped. Now if God is real, I have no problem believing that God created primates that look like us, without us having to actually have to have a shared ancestry. Jesus' lineage was traced back to Adam and Eve, and that is good enough for me to accept a young earth without evolution.
I hope this at least helps you to understand that my beliefs are not stupid, silly, or foolish. I also am not foolish enough to say that your beliefs are stupid, silly, or foolish. I understand why you believe what you do. Try to understand why I believe what I do. It is not as simple as "My parents taught me to believe the Bible, no matter what, and not to question it; so I don't." I'm not stupid (I'm a member of Mensa). I've questioned, I've sought, I've wrestled, and I've decided. I have acknowledged that both viewpoints have merit and logic, but I have concluded that creationism is more logical than the idea that this is some wonderful accident.
Peace.

Nobody "thought it up" it's always been here! That's how the world came to be! There is so much evidence proving that evolution doesn't even exist. Why do you even want to believe that we're related to monkeys? That disgusting! You should look at both sides of the story. Research the facts that go against evolution! There are more against it than there are for it. You might want to check your facts a little better!

Yeah...Most of the evolved primates lived in villages outside the Garden of Eden. Where do you think Adam's son got his wife? From Nod.
