The Masons are a group that has faith in God, and are a spiritual group, but do not belong to any one religious group. Catholics are not Masons, although some Masons are Catholic. The story is that the Masons were started by a group call the Templars that were expeled from the Catholic church because the French and English were fighting, the French Monarchy owed a lot of money to the Templar order, and the French King Phillip, being closer in mind to the Pope that King Edward, requested that the Catholic Church expell the order in order to erase his debt. This is, however speculation and not hard fact.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims can all be Masons. The only requirements are that you are a Man, free born, of legal age (18 in Indiana) , believe in a Supreme Being (God) and come recommended for membership by another member of the Lodge.

They are an organization that is secret. I asked a Mason innocently what was it all about and this was my answer. Apparently, from what I have gathered, they are very ethical, moral and are deists but not necessarily Christian. From all I can tell they are a good group.
