there are many dangerous habits in dieting. if you are not getting enough nutrients, or depriving your body of enough calories to funciton thats also dangerous. there are various effects for not getting enough nutrients, im currently taking a nutrition course and i dont know any effects off of the top of my head but if you dont get any answers you like or cant find an answer i could look it up in my book for ya, just email me.

The best "diet" to follow is to eat at least three meals a day (don't ever skip breakfast!). Make sure they're full of fresh UNprocessed foods -- so lots of fruit and vegetables, whole grains (wholewheat bread and pasta, brown rice...), lean meats (fish and skinned chicken are easier to digest and less fattening than pork or beef), as little (white refined) sugar as possible and go easy on the fats (switch to olive or sunflower seed oil from butter for cooking, for example). Drink lots of water (at least eight glasses a day). Exercise regularly (brisk walking non-stop an hour a day is an amazingly easy way to keep fit and trim!). Get enough sleep.
The idea is that rather than being ON a diet for a certain length of time and then getting OFF it, you make a lifestyle change. That way you reduce the possibility of the yo-yo effect (weight loss/ gain it all back and then some) which happens to so many people who follow restricted or fad "diets".
At it's most extreme, dangerous dieting can kill you (look at anorexia). Your body needs a certain amount of vitamins and minerals to work its best. Following fad diets can end up in depleting one or more of those necessary vitamins/ minerals (like insufficient iron results in anemia). Repairing that damage can take a long time.
Fad dieting can wreak havoc on your metabolism. I remember reading about a model who fasted for three days at a time, drinking only tea and water. On the fourth day, she had a modest meal -- and she said she GAINED weight! Her body was so afraid it was being starved that it glommed onto anything food-like she took it and stored it away...
Don't be tempted for a quick fix! "Slow and steady wins the race" is an old saying. You can also apply it to losing weight and attaining maximum health.

Probably the biggest problem would be your starving the body of Iron which could lead to a type of blood cancer, especially in women because of their loss of blood during their period every month, take an iron supplement
