We all know the people on here who absolutely will not budge an inch from their beliefs, and this question is directed mainly towards them. However, I'd love some input from all sides.

Those of you who think that your religion is the only right one....Would you let a black man eat off your best China?

Would you let your daughter date a Jew?

Would you give the keys to your house to your Hispanic neighbor?

Would you patronize a shop owned by the Muslims down the street?

Are you as intolerant of another's color (we are all members of the human race) as you seem to be of their religions?

If you say that you would definately allow the things I've mentioned, does that make you a hypocrite?

Keeping it simple...have I made you uncomfortable?

An awful lot of you deserve a Thumbs Up. I'm only a level 1. Sorry.

By asking if you were being hypocritical, I was meaning...if your religion tells you to be loving and tolerant of everyone, and you would do all the things listed yet still look down upon people of other religions (as a good many of you seem to do) Does this make you a hypocrit? In your eyes, of course.

Suzanne....prejudice is prejudice, whether it be directed at someone's religion, their color, their sexual orientation, or their social standing. How can you be tolerant/intolerant of one thing, but not another? You don't get to pick and choose. It's all or nothing.

At least, that is where I stand in my beliefs.

My best china comes from wal-mart, if it's a plate, and it's even, it's ok by me.

I'm not letting my daughter date anyone until after college. After that, whoever she wants to date is fine by me.

Depending on if they have a criminal record or not (that applies to anyone, not just hispanics). If not then yes that's fine. I also have had to known them for a while

If he has the cheapest prices.

I am very tolerant to people of other colors.

I feel I have answered these truthfully. A few things (such as having a daughter and a hispanic neighbor) have to be tested.

God despises religion. Religion is man made. Racism still exists. People are hypocrites if they are against people of a different race. There is nothing wrong with interracial marriage in some peoples eyes and you must focus on that. I am a Afro-American and I have China that I don't let my Afro-American Husband to eat on accept for special occasions. I don't live near Hispanics nor will I give them a key if I did live near one. There are no Muslim in my community but if there was I would not have a reason to go to there shops. I believe that I am very tolerant of others beliefs. I don't tolerant those who bash my beliefs without cause therefore I'm not a hypocrite. God's presence is known in my household not religion.

I'm an atheist who will not budge from my nonbelief:

Would you let a black man eat off your best China?
-Yes

Would you let your daughter date a Jew?
-Yes

Would you give the keys to your house to your Hispanic neighbor?
-No. The only person with a key to my house (who doesn't live there) is my mother. It's a security thing, not a race thing. If I ever have a neighbor (of any race) that reaches the level of trust my mother has, they can have a key.

Would you patronize a shop owned by the Muslims down the street?
-Yes

Are you as intolerant of another's color (we are all members of the human race) as you seem to be of their religions?
-I'm less tolerant of religion than I am of race.

If you say that you would definately allow the things I've mentioned, does that make you a hypocrite?
-No

I feel that my religion is the right one, but I also feel that others are entitled to believe what they choose. I'm a Christian that feels some level of brotherhood to Jews and Muslims. I feel that, centrally, we may be honoring the same God. I have no inclination to dispell other's beliefs, but this site is a forum to make one another think and to share ideas. Most choose to do it in a very defensive or offensive way, which breaks down our ability to share quite a bit.

I don't see a problem with any of your statements except for the last about being a hypocrite. I'm afraid I may have missed something. How would respecting other nationalities make a Christian or Believer a hypocrite? If you would allow all of these things you would be tolerant of other people, not necessarily their beliefs. Did I miss something?

"Those of you who think that your religion is the only right one....Would you let a black man eat off your best China?"

yes, my beliefs do not include bigotry or prejudice- I would let anyone eat of of my best China (if I had best China, LOL) Even my worst enemy- it is only material things, never more important than a human being

"Would you let your daughter date a Jew?"
Yes, though I truly believe that Jesus is the Messiah, I am a Messianic believer - I have raised my daughter to know the truth but she must really understand it for herself. I am raising her to be a mature young woman who can think for herself and make wise decisions- I would caution her about being unequally yoked by one who does not accept Christ but in the end, she is accountable for her choices - I cannot make them for her

"Would you give the keys to your house to your Hispanic neighbor?" That would depend on how well I knew them and trusted them- it has nothing to do with them being Hispanic or not- right now, in my neighborhood I would be much more likely to give my keys to my hispanic neighbor across the street than to my white neighbor next door (I am white) - I am not quick to give my keys to anyone so this is always going to be about trust never race or even religion.

"Are you as intolerant of another's color (we are all members of the human race) as you seem to be of their religions?"

I will not be intolerant of any person: race, religion, beliefs , etc- I will however always be intolerant of sinful behavior- I will still tolerate and treat with respect, compassion and kindness the sinner no matter who they are

"If you say that you would definately allow the things I've mentioned, does that make you a hypocrite?" If I am being honest, then no, it does not make me a hypocrite. What would make me a hypocrite is if I say I believe what I do and I did not allow any of the above- it would make me unChrist like and a huge hyposcrite. I am a Christian BUT- I am human, I am imperfect and I would want all of the above people to treat me with respect, compassion and kindness no matter how much they disagreed with what I believe so I can do no less for them.

*** OOOPPPs , sorry, forgot a question and I felt it important not to skip over that one: yes, I would patronize a restaraunt owned by muslims - My husband and I frequent many restaraunts owned by people of different faiths, cultures, etc. I would not have a problem building a rapport with the owners / workers at the restaraunt or business either. I do like to support Christian businesses when I can but not to the exclusion of others- as long as my choices are clean and I can continue to live a sanctified life- I will not however patronize a business that I feel is operating in an unethical manner, would show prejudice to others, or I would have a problem taking my children into because of what they might see and hear (obsenity)

Hmm, what's that about intolerance? Do you understand the definition of 'tolerance'?

Why wouldn't I let a black person eat off my china?

If she wanted to, although it might severely hurt the feelings of her Hispanic fiance.

I guess giving my keys to anybody would depend on the person. But then, I never lock my doors.

Depends on what the Muslim is selling and whether or not I'm interested in buying it.

What's color got to do with ANYTHING except skin pigmentation and, possibly, cultural background?

Believing in something doesn't make you a bigot. You definitely should try it. Your world is way too small.

Yes we are all members of the human race, be we are also worlds apart in many ways, not just skin color. We should make every effort to get along, but we (the different races) are really not meant to live together. Not politically correct I know, but factual. We must tolerate each other (and tolerate means to put up with) because we are forced to. Secretly many people desire to be strictly with their own kind. Sure , hypocrites abound, but that is a minor shortcoming compared to murder, rape, terrorism and theft. peace.

I may have compunctions about different races despite my intellectual beliefs. Some racism may even be true. That doesn't mean one person should be treated unfairly because of their race, or the actions of others in their race. Race is a common term, which we can all use and understand when communicating, but it is a misnomer. It may even be valid to state that some cultures are less trustworthy than others, but to treat an individual unfairly is simply unfair. The personal feelings you have about your daughter, or your belongings, are in the same ballpark as your personal feelings about different races and cultures. If they overlap, that's just how you feel. But people act honorably despite their feelings all the time.

As you can tell by my screen name I do let a black man eat off my china ! And I am Jewish ! My dad was a pastor & people thought we were weird cause we have never pushed our pentecostal religion on anyone cause God dont push himself on anyone. I am open minded & I have friends of all races even gay ones & so called Christians give me a hard time over it all the time. My dad served God at home cause he said some of the biggest sinners on earth are so called Christians. He would allow people to be themselves around him. If someone cussed he let it go in one ear & out the other. He said that it was not his place to condem anyone. I am just like him. He would drink a shot glass full of red wine with his dinner & people said he was in the wrong. He & mom taught me to accept everyone regardless of race, size, sexual preference, or religion. I have alot of people that hate me cause I am so open minded but if you think about it God is open minded & is hated also by some people !!!!! I asked my dad before he passed if it was wrong to mix & he said if it was that Moses would have gotten into trouble !!!
