"Be fruitful and multiply."
I struggle with this myself. I am a married Christian. We have 3 kids. I was about to have a tubiligation but, I felt convicted, so I didn't do it.
Since God is in control and if He wants me to have more babies, He'll put them there. This is my stance. I am not on birth control and haven't gotten pregnant and my youngest child is almost 2.
Love in Jesus' name

Many religions believe that birth control is bad because it is the same as killing a baby. Except, birth control does not kill anything, it simply keeps the sperm and the egg from coming together at all. A baby is not formed until the egg and the sperm come together. So you are not killing anything. I am a christian, and I use birth control.
Do I think abortion is wrong? Yes. I believe that is killing a baby. Do I believe that any form of birth control that gets rid of an already fertilized egg is wrong? Yes. But do I believe that birth control that simply keeps the sperm out of the egg, to keep it from ever becoming fertilized is wrong? No, because there is no baby there yet... just an egg and sperm, coexisting. They are nothing until they come together.

I (we) do.
The time is long past (at least in developed countries) where childen = wealth/prosperity and provide a labor force for the agrarian household. Fertility is no longer a sign of 'power'. And having multiple wives is illegal.
God made sex pleasurable and a strong bond between husband and wife. Contraception allows it to remain so without the economic burden of excess children. There are already too many who suffer around the world.
[Our] Children are a definite blessing from God. But two is plenty. Having raised them, we now have resources to spend helping at least a few disadvantaged children, both locally (we run our church youth group and support our local crisis pregnancy center) and internationally (we sponsor children thru Compassion International and support a mission in Haiti).
The prevention of conception, however, is not the same as the termination of a conceived child.

Absolutely!!! Yes God said be fruitful and mutiply. But, He said that to Adam and Eve in order to populate the earth. He said that to Noah and his wife to re-populate the earth.
I think that birth control is a responsibility. Should you bring little babies into the world if you are not prepared financially, emotionally and physically to do so?? That would not please God. And if you are married, what you should abstain from intimacy so you don't get pregnant?? That is also biblically wrong. (if you want the scripture for this let me know) Why would a human being create something if you cannot be responsible for it. God tells us to take care of his blessings. If you can't then you should try and prevent having children until you can.
Wanted to add something. I think it also depends on what kind of birth control we are talking about here. The morning after pill I do not agree with. Being a rape survivor I do know that this is a form of abortion. It prohibits a fertilized egg from attaching to the wall of a uterus. ( I refused to take it because of this) Also, IUD implants are also a form of abortion. They float around your uterus scraping off anything that has attached to the uterus wall.
But if we are talking about condoms. sponges, bill control pills (patches, etc) diaphrams, then yes I agree with these forms.

What exactly do you mean by "believe in?"
I know birth control is there, that it exists, yes. Do I support the use of it? No. But I don't mind at all if others use it, I'm not going to tell them not to. It's up to the individual themselves to have sexual relations or not. If they don't want a baby, then simply don't have sex, simple as that. If you didn't want children you should've realized this struggle before getting married. These are my thoughts anyway.

Every single Christian denomination denounced the use of birth control until 1933. The reason is very simple: birth control is not Biblical. In fact, that children are a blessing from God is what is reiterated throughout the Bible. The reasons that so many Protestant denominations fell into thinking that birth control was NOT theological, but rather more for the arguments of convenience, selfishness and in an effort to separate themselves from the "papists."
Birth control separates the procreative aspects of the conjugal union from the unitive aspects. Note: the Catholic Church does not teach that you "shouldn't" separate the procreative purpose of sex from the unitive purpose, but rather, the Church provacatively maintains that you "cannot" separate the two. In other words, relationships where partners purposely remove the procreative potentiality from their act, thrawt their act of love into an act of selfishness--the use of another human being for one's own pleasure.
Also, just for clarification, being open to new life in the conjugal act DOES NOT mean that one is only morally permitted to have sex during times of the month for which it will result in a child. My husband and I practice Natural Family Planning (NFP)--we time ourselves according the body's natural cycle that God gave to women everywhere so as to avoid pregnancy at this point in our marriage. One day, we will use NFP to time ourselves to try to concieve a baby. The point is, we are not purposefully attempting to divert or destroy what God has willed to be natural consequences of the act.
God created sex and He wants us to enjoy it. God also created food and He wants us to enjoy food, but we have to regulate how and what we eat so as to be healthy individuals. The same is true with sex. When we regulate how and when and with whom and so on and so forth our lives with regards to sexual intercourse according to God's will, we find the optimal amount of sexual health--the complete happy and guilt-free sex that God wants us to enjoy!
Please repost if I can clarify anything from above! Thanks so much for reading and God Bless!

Catholics have traditionally considered birth control to be a bad thing...so do some other denominations. Personally I belief that it shows great personal responsibility on your part.

I agree with using birth control if it is only the type that stops sperm from reaching the egg,if it kills a fetus then it's wrong.

I've read nothing in the Bible that suggests we shouldn't use birth control.

Our planet is overpopulated, polluted, and short of oil. Maybe this would not have happened if the religious nuts had supported birth control and sex education. Now we are on the verge of World War 3. Thanks, religious fanatics.
