She's licking you because she wasn't weened completely from her mother. I bet she also kneads you a lot at the same time. you're her surogate mother, and really there's not a lot you can go to stop the behavior. To stop it you could try grabbing her tongue when she starts. I know it sounds cruel, but she might just learn if you do it a few time, I mean don't yank on it, just grap hold for a second. it won't really hurt her, she just won't like it, and she might be mad initially, but it might get her to stop.

I got my male Siamese from a rescue group. The poor guy ad been in a cage for well over a year wirh no toys and nothing to do but wait for an owner. He's the sweetest cat, but he's a compulsine licker. He licks me, my husband, the other cats, and even the couch and furniture. The vet doesn't know how to get him to stop and neither do we.
With normal cats, it's away of grooming or showing love. So either your cat loves you or thinks you need to groom more! lol

Not sure why they do that, my girl cat will lick my hand a little. I just take it as she likes me. But my boy cat likes to get on the back of the couch after you have showered and rubs his face all in your hair, he loves it for some reason. He will even get my husband to sit down when he hasn't showered yet and do this and will sometimes lick his head when he is doing that. Just a silly little quirk.

Your cat licking you can be for salt or whatever taste is on your hands. Most often it really is a sign of affection. Another way of showing affection is gently biting on your nose or your face. Also, looking at you and slowly blinking her eyes is a way of saying "I love you." You can respond in the same way, if you want. Your cat sounds a little more affectionate than mine! My cat licks my hands then, moves up to my nose. He doesn't fall asleep in the process though. My ways of showing affection to him are: I purr next to him (by rolling my tongue), I kiss him, I make various meow sounds, I talk to him, I "fight" with him (he loves tearing up my arm with his claws and teeth). Aren't cats so crazy? Their soooo cute, too. Oh, I love cats!

I had a cat that would do that...not until she fell asleep, but she wouldn't stop for a while. Even when I pushed her away, she would be right back at it. I like to think it's a way of nurturing/grooming you...like she really likes you and is taking care of you. Remember, to your cat, you are a member of her pride.

Yes, my one cat, Owen, does this as well. Whenever he is cuddling he feels the need to constantly lick me! I think the cats think they are grooming us. If you have multiple cats you will often see them grooming each other. It is their way of letting us know that they accept us as "one of the cats"...the funny looking one. They also like the salt taste that is often on our skin. You can also look at it like they are giving you kisses....returning the love that you give to them!

She may be trying to get salt from your skin. Offer her a cracker see if she licks the salt off it. If she does you may need to change her food because her mineral needs are not being met.
