I am considering buying one of these breeds, but have some questions. Can someone please answer these questions for me:
1. Can this dog be trusted not to run off, or will they typically take off to explore as soon as the door opens?
2. Do they like to swim?
3. How much do they shed?
4. How much does this breed bark?
6. Are they easy to train or too stubborn to learn?
7. How much do they typically sell for?

Thank you all.

All of these questions vary from Dog to location.
1. It depends on the dog, most of the time if you neuter the dog early (like when its 6mo old - the recommended age for neutering) it will greatly decrease its chances of running around the neighborhood. If you have other dogs that navigate around, this dog would likely follow the pack. If it is an only dog home, chances are it will stick around more at the house. All dogs are curious and want to explore their surrondings. The more you chain your pet the more he/she will want to explore. I suggest taking them outside to go potty off a leash and sitting there with them (they will learn).
2. Most Min Pins dont like to swim... while they may enjoy water, I have yet to come across one that loves it like Labroadores etc. But again, all dogs are different.
3. They shed about as much as any other normal dog. You might not see it as much with Black fur as opposed to a white dog. But it would also depend on your furniture and how well it would show up. They dont shed excessivley like long haired dogs.
4. For the most part this breed barks. They may bark at a noise, or something they see, but its nothing like hearing a mastiff barking in your ear. Training is availble to cease their bark if it is really bad. Puppies are known to bark more than adults so beware if your new puppy drives you bonkers with barking.
5. Min Pins are very bright, and learn things very fast. (also know that its typical in their breed to have chronic ear infections so routine doctor checkups may be in store) You may look at the parents of the puppy you choose to see if they have any medical problems because it is likely that your puppy will have the same. The may be a little hard-headed about it, but the have the ability to catch on quickly.
6. Typically you can get and average registered Min Pin around $300 it may be more or less depending on where you get him from and who you buy it from. I would recommend that you make sure that the puppy you buy has some kind of health guarantee, and shortly after you buy him you visit a Vet to get him started on shots (if not already started) all puppies need to be Vaccinated up to 16wks of age regardless of when thier first shot was. Do some research, about the breed to determine if its the right dog for you.
All dogs are raised differently it depends on how stern you are with your pet so it can learn at an early age what it acceptable and what it not. If you dont want them to bark, make sure that you correct them early enough, and be consistent about it so the learn that it is unacceptable behavior. Breed may have some small influence on how a dog will act (by breed) but every dog, given the right training will act the way you desire.

They will run if given the chance and they love to go off and explore things.
They do not like water and most would not swim at least no willingly.
They shed about the same amount all year. It is short hair but they do shed.
They bark alot. They are very active and sort of hyper and they live to bark at things or at nothing.
They can be stubborn and hard to train.
They sell here for anywhere from about $400 up to about $800 or so.
Check out www.akc.org to see a breed profile on these little guys and do some research before you jump into one.
Thye can be a real handfull.

my mini pin is a real doll she,s trained to sit lay and roll over i trained her so it was easy , they will run just to be happy to get out or they smell something and want to check it out they will come back unless it chases something and gets lost i wouldn,t let it out un-leashed or fenced yard mine cost 300.00 and every penny worth it she barks , only when some-one shows up or she hears a noice, i feel safe with her i leave her in the car with my purse she will attack a stranger and bit the vet , since they are short hair you won,t notice the shedding unless you have all white or pale colors in your home , all dogs shed ,some more than others smart as a whipper-will, you,ll love the dog with all your heart a good and trusting friend she,s 5 now saba, is her name and always wants to play even with my lil doggie,s i have , she steals their toys and puts their food out for them cute cute cute
