Does hoodia live up to the hype?

In one word:

No.

Most of the hype surrounding hoodia is due in large part to the media. Reporters from 60 Minutes and the BBC went to Africa to try Hoodia gordonii, a cactus-like plant that grows in the Kalahari Desert.

The San Bushmen of the Kalahari have been using hoodia for centuries to fight off hunger while hunting. But, the hoodia you buy in stores is often impure or contains little of the active appetite suppressing ingredient.

Clinical weight loss studies don't show much promise for hoodia and long-term side effects of hoodia are unknown.

If you give into the hype, be sure to buy hoodia from a reputable dealer since there are a lot of hoodia scams floating around on the internet.

Hoodia is a lot of hype...but so is just about every other diet pill on the market.

If your looking for a good diet pill the only one that I've found to work is phentermin. It is by prescription only though. My doc couldn't prescribe diet pills so he told me to look on line. I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks.

i haven't tried it but what i've heard is that in Africa, people use it to suppress appetite, and it is very effective. However, they actually chew on the root of the plant. i am not sure if the active ingredient is really effective when extracted and put into a pill.

i wanted to try it, but i won't waste my money unless i hear from someone's lips (someone i trust, that is) that it really works.
